Everyone knows small children should NOT be on rides without an adult with them. Some people are larger than other's when presiing the lap bar down, it could hit on the larger persons legs, yet the child has no bars on their legs, due to the larger person taking up that space.
@melanielever29448 күн бұрын
Wow exactly , it's been decades since I last had the guts to join a ride, however I recall many rides that the bench seats sat two people side by each and one single bar came down and across both parties. Definitely if there was a difference in mass then there would be gaps around the child where the safety equipment wouldn't be flush making areas where children could slither thru. Think of the G Force on you during a ride pinning u this way and that, the Forces on a child would be so much stronger: impossible for even young teens to counteract. Scary glad that my nieces and nephews are all grown up and have many people to take their kids out for amusements!

It seems like there's a never-ending supply of these "death ride" stories?? Yet more parks open every year and people line up by the thousands, wow! I had one bad experience in 1991 on a ride at the beach - the ride is very common and goes by different names but it's basically a ship that swings back and forth and swings up higher as the ride progresses. All we got was a bar across our legs. I was 20 and on it with my bf. By the end I was out of my mind with pure terror and was in tears. I thought I was going to fall the hell out and my thigh muscles were aching from keeping myself in my seat. My bf tried to laugh it off but I could tell that at 26, he had been terrified, too!

I stop going on tall rides after I nearly fell out of one upside down with the bar not all the way locked in place. It was upside down for a full 10 seconds when my body slowly started leaving the seat. It was a miracle that it started moving just as I was on the verge of STARTING to fall! I never went on another ride after that.

I can understand a ride being shut down while making sure it is actually safe, but to permanently shut a ride down just because of an accident is ridiculous. Accidents happen everywhere, it’s why they’re called accidents. If a child died in a swimming pool on holiday you wouldn’t expect the hotel to stop showing the swimming pool in its advert. Just silly

Yes I agree , but also know if it is as my child i would perhaps feel different even if it’s not logical or fair. With pools for example there is a lot of advertisements (here in Aus anyways) about preventing drowning , and how it’s the number one cause of accidental death in kids under 5) , and in fact it’s kind of a good thing to have pools to teach children safety and confidence because they can’t get away from water here, the beaches rivers lakes pools etc. but I guess the parents think rides are seen as a totally wonderful fun safe thing and there should be more warning that people can and do die. I don’t disagree though it’s a bit much to expect, but I understand their grief

@ I wouldn’t expect a motorway to be permanently shut down if my child or loved one died on it so I wouldn’t expect a ride to shut down either. Accidents happen unfortunately and some happen through neglect from either the operator or the passenger and sometimes from both. If the ride is safe and has passed stringent safety checks and has all its ducks in a row then there’s no need to close a ride down for any longer than the investigation. Don’t try and use the “if you lost a child” bollocks on me, it won’t work. I think with logic and always have done and yes I’m a parent to 3 grown sons before you ask. My middle son was in a motorbike accident a few months back, I didn’t demand Kawasaki to stop making that particular bike.
