Can you please provide the American translation to the vocal verses
@eukleides23 жыл бұрын
Hope you are not disappointed, if the translation is almost dadaist, and does not make too much sense in English. It is a very special style of humour! :-)) Here you go: 1. Is ma nix um a sechserl, is ma nix um a göld, is ma nix um a Dirnderl, san gnua auf da wölt = I do not care about six shilling, I do not care about money at all, I do not even care about a specific girl, because there exist enough girls in the world. 2. Schean rund is mei Huat, schean hoaß is mei Bluat, kann nix als wia danzn, aba des konn I guat = My hat is beautifully rounded, and my blood is really burning hot, I am too stupid to do anything else than dancing, but in dancing I am really talented! 3. Mei Dinrdl hoaßt Annerl, hot scheeweiße Zahnderl, hot schneeweiße Knia, aba gsegn han is nia = My beloved's name is Anna, she has snow-white teeth, and she has snow-white knees; the only problem is that I have not seen them yet! 4. Da Tanzbodn is luckat, mei Dirndl is kloa, wanns ma durchobi schlupfat, wos taat I aloa? = The dance-floor has some holes, and my girl is a bit small, if she would get lost through these holes, what would I do alone on the dancefloor?

@@eukleides2 Does it mean "I haven't seen HER" or "..her knees are white, but I haven't seen THEM" - meaning the knees, as they are not on such intimate terms (yet)?

@@lolakauffmann You are right: THEM, meaning the knees... Thanks for your careful reading! :-))
