Not sure exactly what you just said, but it's recommended to do a restore before you jailbreak. Doing a restore after the jailbreak will remove it.

Did you do step 2? Its one of the most important steps (it will not work if you don't do step 2)... if you did and it still didn't work, try re-downloading it (Absinthe 2.0) and starting ALL over again (just to make sure you didn't make any mistakes). And make sure you have the latest Absinthe downloaded as well. (I believe they are at v2.0.4)

Yes you can, If you want to save your data just sync it to your computer, and sync it back to your device after.

Basically, you find the ios file by googling iod 5.1.1 download, then go to itunes and hold shift when you tell it to do a system restore to let you choose what file to restore from. You choose your 5.1.1 file you downloaded and go from there. Google "install old ios iphone".

if your on windows you have to run it ad admin itll come up as a black screen with text . let it do that. then go to start type in absinth there will be a folder click the folder and run absinth from there as admin :)

if you have trouble jbing on windows, you need to extract the absinthe.exe file, by running that file as administrator. after, click on the other absinthe.exe file(three files including absinthe should pop up) Then, run the absinthe as administrator one more time, and the jailbreak icon should appear/

To fix it from not opening you have to go to the absinthe folder that it downloaded and they're will be a picture of a green scull with a small tallow icon on the corner of it and then open that and it will open absinthe

Chances are you need to right click your device before you sync it and then click transfer purchases.

Yes it will as it exploits the ipod itself, but the customization and software variety is almost infinite. It is definitely worth it BUT jailbreaking voids the warranty on your ipod so you won't be able to get it repaired with Apple.

all you have to do is hook up you device to your mac or pc and when it loads up itunes you go into your apps and drag the apps on the little bar were it says ipad ipod or iphone.

Im on windows. I restored my ipad 2, to a new ipad. It is also updated to 5.1.1 and then i open the absinthe and it runs the black window with all the extracting text. and at the end it just stops and closes. and NOTHING happens. Its really starting to piss me off. Anything im doing wrong?

I have and the problem with that is that I'm using the iPhone 4, upon starting up redsnow a message pops up saying incomplete itunes library blah blah blah. Following that I follow the instructions to enter the DFU mode and it still fails to recognise the device. Hence why I'm trying this option.
