This is so far the most zombified I have seen Dr. Hill.
Odd/Fail/No Choices Playthrough: In This playthrough I tried to capture the different choices of what happens when you don't make any choices or fail quick time events (except for some of Matt's qte). It's a mixture of bad, really bad choices and some minor good ones.
Welcome to my Until Dawn Bad Choices Walkthrough. I will attempt to make the stupidest, most selfish choices result in mine and my friend utter destruction. So sit back and enjoy the show lol. No commentary needed for my sheer stupidity lol. Enjoy!!

Written in collaboration with cult writers/directors Larry Fessenden and Graham Reznick, Until Dawn plunges you into a remote mountain retreat where a group of eight friends is trapped. Fear permeates the group, and dread lurks around every corner as you are not alone. Every decision matters, as each choice you make has a ripple effect that may save a life - or place someone in grave peril. Branching storylines ensure no two gameplay experiences will be the same as you carve your path to survival. Immerse yourself in the horror with the power of the Killzone Shadow Fall engine that delivers realistic visuals and edge-of-your-seat gameplay. Who will survive?
Until Dawn is designed to be replayed multiple times, as players will miss out on quite a bit of content with just a single playthrough. Each playthrough will last about ten hours in length and the game mechanics utilize a new in-game system called the "Butterfly Effect" in which any choice of action by the player may cause minor or major unforeseen consequences later on. For example, locating a weapon in an earlier chapter may allow you to pick it up down the line when a chase scene brings you back to the same room. Throughout the game, players will make difficult decisions during ethical or moral dilemmas, such as sacrificing one character to save another. The Butterfly Effect system blurs the line between right and wrong decisions and it is possible for players to keep all eight characters alive as well as having all eight of them die, allowing for many different paths and scenarios as well as offering several different endings. Until Dawn has a strict auto-save system to prevent players from reloading a previous save file to an earlier point in the game if they regret an in-game decision they have made. The only way to change your choice is to restart the game from the beginning or continue your playthrough to the end and start a new game. In a developer interview, it has been said that Until Dawn will have "hundreds of endings", but this remains unconfirmed as of yet. [2][6]
The gameplay is focused on exploration, quick-time events and discovering clues as well as making countless decisions. There is an in-game system that will keep track of all of the clues and secrets players have discovered in total, even if there are multiple playthroughs; these clues will allow the player to piece together the mysteries of Blackwood. In terms of the gameplay mechanics and theme, Until Dawn has been noted to be similar to Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls.

Personally I think this should have been the canon in terms of Dr. Hill having a deteriorating appearance. It's too perfect an analogy for Josh's deteriorating sanity not to be.

hate how much they villainize josh man. I mean honestly the other characters with the exception of Sam and Chris were all terrible people. Who preyed and reveled in the dismay of others. Josh had a mental problem and he wasn't treated properly for it and couple with the fact that the majority of the friends he did have around him were toxic it didn't help him much. Wish he could have been saved, honestly.

He was treated properly. He's the one who stopped taking his meds, so perhaps family didn't help as much as they should have, but he was given treatment as seen in his files. I don't think they really villainize him. He did a bad thing, thinking he was doing a good thing, which happens with severe mental illness. That's just being realistic. It wasn't like he was completely innocent in everything that happened. He was no angel. He wasn't evil and I really don't think they made him out to be. Just in need of support he didn't have and acted out as some mentally ill people do. Besides, not all of the others were awful. They had major faults for sure but they didn't 'prey and revel in the dismay of others.' They pulled a crappy prank as immature teens, that doesn't make them terrible people. I mean not great people but not totally awful. Especially Matt. Matt was a pretty good guy.

I could have had to restarted the game, because I waited to long after Ashley and Mike kept mourning over Chris. This is also the same for Markiplier, he accidentally let Mike die in the final scene, so he did the same thing I did, and it brought him back before it.

no. this was all in your (or should we say, joshs) head. the "dr hill" encountered in these sessions is really a manifestation of joshuas conscience. we all have this in some form. the inner voice that constantly questions on if were doing the right thing, and if were doing the wrong thing, will try to guilt us into turning around and changing course. this might have been based on past real sessions in the past, but note how the office changes from one instance to the next. it's basically shifting positions based on where joshua is, and its state is dictated by just how badly joshua believes he's fucked everyone over. he never intended anyone to die in this little game of his. and when someone IS killed, or if he thinks hes killed someone, then dr. hills office is shown at its worst. no matter what happens, who lives, who dies... joshuas fate is sealed. his own psych being just as much a villain as the wendigos are. no matter what happens, joshua dies. either by getting his head crushed, or his body being used as a vessel for the wendigo curse. at least the hallucination of dr. hill ends up being a hero of sorts, as he's trying to turn josh AWAY from this path. but ultimately he failed. the real dr hall was also trying desperately to talk josh out of his "game." but that didnt go over too well either.

I know it's been over a year, and maybe you have your answer by now, but for anyone who's still wondering: To get Dr. Hill to say this line, you have to finish the game and then start a new game by selecting the Prologue from the Episodes menu. Then just play until Dr. Hill appears for the first time. In contrast to an initial playthrough, as we see in this video, he'll already be seated at his desk, and the first thing to come out of his mouth will be this line before he continues with his normal dialogue. I replayed UD a few times before I saw that scene because I would always delete the entire previous save file before starting a new game. Freaked me out a little the first time I saw it, but I think it's a cool touch.

It was always easy for me to relate to Josh, mostly because of all these sessions with Dr. Hill. In a way, because you play as Josh, while answering all these questions, the player and Josh have the same ideas and fears. For example, the dark depresses me and I fear isolation, but because I was playing as Josh, the Josh in my playthrough at least, felt the same way about the dark and isolation as I did. I could get behind what Josh was thinking because I played as him and shared the same fears as him. Maybe I'm looking too much into it, but that's what I got from all these sessions with Dr. Hill.

In fact, I think it's pretty easier to find each fears of each characters as the game keeps going and if you had experiment any character in "the most hatred". Sam is afraid of supernatural (according to "the game", I didn't see that but that's not illogic to me). Chris is afraid of disappointing others. Emily is lacking of self-esteem or self-assurance. Matt is afraid of getting people upset I think. Ashley is afraid of being in a humiliating/very embarassing situations in front of people and more generally is afraid of getting straight out of her comfort zone. Mike is accurately afraid of loneliness, and that's why Wolfie's here : to emphasize in deep meaning that fear. Jessica is definitely lacking of self-esteem, she reveals it herself. And Josh... well, what to choose ? He has every fears that his friends have. Oh, I think the fear of the dark (Hail to Iron Maiden by the way) is only for him I think.

Actually, "Undead Hill" is the "consequence" if you say to him that zombies scares you most than scarecrows or clowns. I've played this game so many times and see other let's play and Undead Hill is only there when you choose zombie fear. But the meaning of the Undead Hill as Josh falls deep in insanity is so well found. The Right Conscience of Josh is fading away as Josh looses steps on reality. It's not a Wendigo turn, it's an emotional/sanity dying.

+TTGuy10000 Most likely because Josh doesn't see himself as pyscho or that he has deep dislike for himself. Also Dr. Hill sessions were originally real but Josh stop going to them so the later sessions in the game were figment of Josh's imagination.

If you choose anyone but Josh as your least favorite, Dr. Hill defends them and lists possible reasons that you might dislike them. If you choose Josh, he asks you not to be too hard on him. He's Josh's mind telling him that he wasn't responsible for his sisters and he should let it go, but Josh knows this "sanity" talking to him is long gone, like the real doctor who clearly hasn't done much for him.

There's no way to really save him because of his madness in my point of view. He has already put a step on his grave before even came back on the mountain. He looses his mind during the game, if even Mike can't help him, he is condemned. Josh is my favorite male character of the game, and Sam my favorite female character. "For the game" turning into a demonic cannibal spirit's host is "better" than dead. Josh is condemned by his insanity, which every miners and the player character or his/her roommate in The Inpatient have to get. That's the way to slowly get the evil in yourself, and if Joshua has already lost insanity, the evil has less "work" to do to possess him. That's purely my opinion, I prefer to say it multiple times but I found it straight logical.

I don't understand what you wanted to mean ? Joshua has no conscience of the Wendigos, not in any moment of the game before being taken by Hannah herself. By the way, I think that's when he "saw" Hannah coming for him that he's gone definitely out of reality : he was in a critical situation before, seeing the monster was the final step to madness. When he is confronted directly to Hannah in the mine, he says himself "you're not real", because he can't accept monsters are real. But if you made him recognize Hannah, I think that's like a "hold" on madness. Before going completely and definitely out of reality, he realize the monster his sister has become and, as a fatality, and because of hunger too, I decide to join his sister forever

Somehow this therapist reminds me of Dr. Kaufmann from Silent Hill: Shattered Memories. They're both a little sarcastic and confrontational, though unlike Hill, Kaufmann isn't a hallucination. Both voice actors, Peter Stormare and Michael McConnohie, are also pretty intense when their characters start yelling at you.

Mike has a character development throughout the game which is great to see, Emily, Jess, Matt and Ashley still continued to villainize Josh. He died thinking no one cared for him, I personally like Mike, Chris and Sam. Mike however does still villainize Josh which does decrease my liking for him in parts, but overall he has a great arc throughout the game. Josh deserved so much better throughout the game, I wish you got to play as him more and that it was an option to save him but the game was designed how it was designed. Love the game overall, even in the year 2022. :)

Josh Waldorf it's an indication of Josh's deteriorating mental state. The office and Dr. Hill speaking to him throughout the game are in his head, and so his perception of them is affected.
