Nice one! Is it possible to put the IS front brakes on the rear?
@RotaryDaddy4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! So I suppose if you tried hard enough really anything is possible but it would be so much work finding rotors that fit both the caliper and the parking brake system, not to mention figuring out a way to get the caliper to bolt on since no one makes a kit for that. Honestly too much trouble/money for what it's worth

How’s the set up running ? Im thinking of doing the spacer like you did
@RotaryDaddy3 жыл бұрын
I ran the spacers until I got wheels and it was great! Just be ready for your car to scrape a bit on really big bumps if you're on stock suspension. You could roll your fenders and it would take care of it tho. Or just make sure to drive a bit slower over bumps. But the front end will be a bit lower since the roll center adjusters lower the suspension about a half inch.
@blownaway43714 жыл бұрын
So, in your previous vid that you rebuilt the calipers, you did the REARS also. Are those also from the LS400 or stock IS? IF they are LS400, are they the LS rotors or IS? (is there a difference in size between the two, calipers and rotors?) Also, would you or others here know any info on removing the whole ABS hydraulic system and go to NON-Power (like the Chase Bays setup) increases or decreases the pedal feel? I'll be going to a V8, and since it seems like most do the ABS relocation to the battery area, could it just be removed? Then, Would you or anyone else know if one does delete the ABS and you have an accident, would the Insurance NOT cover you because the ABS was "tampered with"? (I guess one could ask if doing this 'upgrade' do you need to inform the insurance agent of the mods? Thanks
@RotaryDaddy4 жыл бұрын
Great questions! So for the rears I'm still using the factory is300 calipers as the ls400 uses a floating single piston caliper. As far as I know the chase bays set up should feel similar to a boosted set up until you require larger braking forces which will take more effort but be way more predictable. Chase bays also sells a brake line relocation kit that is supposed to eliminate the abs unit. As far as the insurance goes, I don't know too much about how that works but I know any time I've ever gotten into an accident the adjusters haven't come out to inspect my car that hard but it might depend on your adjuster or where you live. Probably best to ask your agent about that kind of thing.

I have wheels 18x8.5 fronts with +35 offset... think they’ll fit without spacers? It seems like there’s tons of room for it
@RotaryDaddy4 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the design of the inside arch of the wheel. As long as you've got about 15mm of room with stock calipers you should be OK 👌
@samlouie77542 жыл бұрын
Is this possible on a stock wheel setup without spacers?
@RotaryDaddy2 жыл бұрын
Nope, minimum of 15mm space necessary to clear stock wheels

@@RotaryDaddy did you need to roll your fender after? Any rubbing after putting on the spacers?
@RotaryDaddy2 жыл бұрын
@Sam Louie when I had the 25mm with stock wheels and stock suspension it did rub a bit on really big bumps but not really during normal driving. If you're lowered it will probably run if you don't have rolled fenders

Can I put these ls400 bbk on my IS300 if I’m rocking the stock 17’s? I’m trying to get these brakes upgrade but I don’t know if they will fit with the stock rims ... would I need to upgrade to bigger rims as well?
@RotaryDaddy4 жыл бұрын
I'm running stock wheels. The only issue is the spacing. You need at least a 15mm spacer to fit the stock wheels. Im running 25mm and the fronts fit the fenders nice!
@harshanchellamal66883 жыл бұрын
@@RotaryDaddy what offset on a new rim that suits ls400 callipers are recommended? The stock one is 50 from forums, so 65 or 75 you say?
@RotaryDaddy3 жыл бұрын
@@harshanchellamal6688 offset isn't what you actually have to worry about with that. Look for wheels that are advertised as having good brake clearance. Also more offset that way would push the wheel further in. Adding 25mm spacers takes the stock 50mm offset and effectively makes it a 25mm offset wheel

Get some spacers! 15mm is all you need for stock wheels

@@RotaryDaddy if I pull the wheels out further I think I'll rub the fenders, at least over bumps, and I don't want to roll the fenders.

Why not just cut the overall diameter of the rotor down? Use a brake lathe. Might make this swap a fair amount easier
@RotaryDaddy Жыл бұрын
The mounting holes still wouldn't line up as they are wider than the factory is caliper mounting holes, also I am not doing this swap for similar sized front brakes

Dude I am subbed! I own and daily an is300. I just got done doing a supra clutch and flywheel swap because my clutch was toast. If you need any info hit me up. Have you run into an issues with your Air vent selection system yet? Mine is stuck on one settings. Feet and Face for example. Can't switch to defrost. I still need to look into how to fix this hopefully it is not to hard.

Thanks for the sub man! I have not mine still currently work. Probably just a servo going out but idk how hard they are to replace on the IS.

Austin 152 I own a couple is300’s and just repaired the A/C blend door servo, it and the vent selection servo are behind the glove box. I was able to repair the servo without having to replace it. Check out a channel called “Froggy” he does some helpful is300 videos.

I really wanna do this install. Not sure its this video or the install video, but you mentioned needing new rims. Is it the diameter of the rims or the offset that makes it hard to fit these calipers? I have 19x8.5 rims.
@RotaryDaddy8 ай бұрын
Diameter is fine it’s the offset/curvature of the inside of the wheel that needs to have good brake clearance

@@RotaryDaddy hmmm....that's what I was afraid of. Do you know a reliable way of checking that?

I put them all around so that it wouldn't look too weird with just the front having decent fitment but the rear could honestly use like 35mm ones to match the front fitment
