My parents lost their life savings when this bank closed, but for the next 20 years or so, the bank or whatever was left of it, kept making small payments. In the end 70 % of their total amount was returned to them. BCCI didn't have to return anything , if they were frauds, but the fact that they did says a lot about their crediblity despite all they went through.

Sir please recall the history in full honesty. MOST of the branches of BCCI were liquid and in profit, and despite the abrupt & unfair clamp down the assets in form of Advanced needed time to collect. And eventually All depositors were paid almost 90-100%.

No wrong doing or criminality was possible with such a team. Good presentation by this journalist. BCCI does not exist since July 1991. The black money exists in every country. The drug money still circulates worldwide. Which banks are now laundering illicit money-? This proves that BCCI was targeted and that there was a conspiracy. Loan Book of BCCI might have been weak but that was no reason to shut it down completely. Most depositors got their money back though with a delay.

If one understands the core demise of BCCI, he will be able to pinpoint the world politics now and the in the future. Dhiru bhai ambani, dad of Mukesh Ambani was funded by agha saheb In bhutto time, after kahuta nuclear issue, No one was issuing credit line to Pakistan. Agha saheb took RTC (Rice trading corp) future production on books, created $400m deposit in Pak reserves and with +ve balance, deposits started flowing as foreign exchange It's simple to compare, if he was fraud, he would not have given NUST, BCCI FAST, Cromwell hospital UK. Compare that with nawaz sharif and zardari. Imran khan did hospitals but he is being portrayed as fraudster - same story repeating again and again.

I remember as around 10’year old kid watching a PTV drama called Des Pardes which showed one of the characters Nabeel of Dhuwan fame struggling to cope with some trauma related to BCCI closure. I asked my parents what was this all about and they explained about international bank ran by a Pakistani. My father who was a Air traffic Controller telling me how Abedi would come out from his own Charter plane with bunch of guys following him from Behind including white people. Since then this story has fascinated me lot and on any opportunity be in school or college gave presentation on the bank. Surprised that many people didn’t know about this story despite being relativel recent. It’s a solid Netflix story

BCCI was the best bank to work for. BCCI head office in 100 Leadenhall St, London was the most prestigious location in London and all the other banks near 100 Leadenhall Street were extremely jealous of its success. You immediately accuse BCCI of laundering money but all the other banks were doing the same thing .Please stop accusing BCCI of Laundering money and calling names - the other banks like HSBC ( formerly Midland Bank ) Nat West, Citibank were all doing the transactions with BCCI. The reason that BCCI was so successful in the UK is due to the fact that a lot of businesses from the Indian subcontinent and far east as well as Africa and the Middle East could not rely on any of the Western country bank to provide Letter of Credit banking or Foreign Bills purchased support because the Western Banks did not have the knowledge on International banking or rules related to ICC so BCCI stepped up and provided this service and the small business man succeeded. Do not call BCCI crooks because even the State Bank of India as well as other banks in the Western world !!!
