Jim I LOVE YOU! Great job, excellent and useful videos, and this one is priceless and so simple! Know that I watch YT a lot, but very rarely write comments. I had to write this to you because You and what you do deserve to be thanked. Thank You!

I didn't expect the video to be so well received, David. I just put it up because I had nothing else because of being unable to fly. Our lockdown should be easing slightly next Wednesday, so I hope to get out then if the weather cooperates.

Brilliant! Do you have a video on making bridle adjustments for misbehaving kites? I’m having a heck of a time getting my gomberg double delta conyne to straighten up and fly right
@JimNicholls3 жыл бұрын
I haven't done one so far because there are so many different kites all with different bridles, and, more to the point, I'm no expert on such things. When I have problems with a kite, I just fiddle with the bridle until I find what seems to be the best arrangement, and then never seem to remember what I've done in order to make it useful for next time. Anyway, I'll keep it in mind for a future video. I don't have that kite, but I do have other double DCs.

This isn't just useful for kites, this could literally be a lifesaver under the right circumstances although, I must also note that since the larkshead is basically a capsized reef knot, it should theoretically be possible to capsize the knot the other way by pulling on the strands in opposite directions.
@JimNicholls3 жыл бұрын
Yes, there may well be different, and perhaps easier, ways of doing it. I just showed what I do (although I rarely have the need) and I'll be happy if it helps a few people or at least stimulates them into getting their own ideas.

i always have a fishermans swivel in that end, so thats never a problem ;-) What do you suggest for that one? :-)
@JimNicholls3 жыл бұрын
I have never used a swivel. I've seen a number of cases where they've given way, or the user has forgotten to clip it properly, with bad results. The larkshead knot is, for me, the best way to attach the line, but everyone should do what he or she finds best.

I had a Fisherman's Swivel break this year, combined with rule No#1 never fly a Kite over water, was able to retrieve a 50ft. Rainbow Tube Tail in about 4.5 ft. of water, consider myself lucky to have gotten it back. :^{D
