I’m guessing the burn he was feeling was from stinging nettle. It’s annoying (& kind of freaky if you don’t know what’s happening), but usually subsides within 15-20 minutes. The real menace was the plant he was picking off his shorts. It’s known as “Virginia Stick Seed” or “Beggars Lice”, and is an absolute NUISANCE to remove!
