All that talking in the tube during engine starts would’ve drove me nuts if I was center seat!! Palomino showed some serious patience then they said STOP TALKING 😂 I love it 🤘🏽 current 8251 AWF2 Richmond VP-69 NASWI

yeah, is not like identifying starts fakes aren't important or anything. Palo has some focus.

Beautiful, my dad served as an FE on a P-3 for the USN, its cool to get a little insight on what he did, even though it was over 30 years ago.

Hot & heavy, max power takeoff, I miss that shit! Flying out of Cubi Point PI. We also called fuel dump switch as the first step of the emergency engine shutdown checklist. That was after dumping fuel over subic bay hanging on three propellers with a max weight aircraft. Good time's!

Excellent vid! I was an instructor FE and I got a kick out watching Ruben's eyes. He is on his game no doubt. I'm sure the missions are interesting flying for NASA so hat tip. Video would have been much better if you could have filtered out the FIBs convo during engine start. I laughed thinking how NASA FIBs sounded exxxxxxxactly the same as NAVY FIBs hahahaha. Good job it was a pleasure to watch a crew take a bird flying....I miss it.

Thanks Toby, I’m glad you enjoyed it. That was one of my first videos, and I’m always striving to improve. Unfortunately when I recorded it, I didn’t realize at the time that I had the back (science team) selected, since I wasn’t monitoring it. Thanks for the feedback & thanks for watching!!

What’s up bro, started FE school few months back, first course was basic aircraft familiarization and a brief overview of all systems aboard, start my next course next week where I’ll be calculating weight and balance and charts and all that shit, always was obsessed with the idea of being a Flight engineer, my dad was an FE on Orion’s from 2003-2015, I’ve gotten a lot of insight from him about it all, majority of what he said is what got me so hooked on the idea of emulating that, from ur perspective as a prior IFE tho, what’s the best piece of advice u could give to a trainee going through the FE pipeline, and something you think I should keep in mind throughout my whole tour?

P-3's have separate channels for conversations inside the aircraft. Why aren't the tube people on another channel for engine starts.
@UnusualAttitudes4 жыл бұрын
Because of where I had to place the cameras. The one I used for audio was closest to a tube ICS box. Gotta fly the plane first & I didn’t want audio cables strung through the flight station.

Interesting when did NRL start farming out FEs, or did they have one of their birds there too?
@UnusualAttitudes5 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure when they started, but we had 2 pilots & 2 FEs; only NASA’s P-3. NRL has gotten pretty slow these days on the P-3 side.
