Informative video! But regarding Wyze: I will consider them for some other products, but after how poorly they handled prior cam security issues, I will not purchase their camera nor wifi lock.

I enjoy these "new gadget" videos of yours, Brian. I used and dumped LifX several years ago because of constant problems. It wouldn't have known they were back with new versions. I've used Ring for years, but hadn't previously paid much attention to the "Pro" features...thanks. I like the "Live Smart" tagline.

Thanks Hugh! I think a lot of folks wrote off LifX, but the FEIT purchase has them on a path to making new gear. Not everything is perfect with Matter for sure, but there's a path 😃

Nice selection, Brian. How about a video or series on power monitoring (whole house and local devices), energy efficiency solutions, and then whole house energy solutions (solar, batteries, peak rate management, EV charging, heat pumps and various heating/cooling methods), and how automation can help or solve. I've seen a lot of EU videos in this area, but nothing for North America. Electricity is more expensive in the EU, but our day will come (soon).

What are the best camera systems that use local storage with no subscription needed? I have some blink outdoor cameras that seem to work fairly well and store video on the sync 2 module with memory card. I have a couple Wyze outdoor cameras and feel they are garbage, lol. Have sensitivity set as low as possible but they constantly go off.

Eufy as long as you're ok with some of the security issues uncovered last year. I like Tapo and their new options with a base station, BUT I haven't got to try that yet. Should be great, but look for reviews.

Switched entirely from Google Home since sensors stopped working multiple times in not only my own home. My parents now use Smartthings and I use Home Assistant. Both working fine, much quicker and finally 100% reliably. Using the old Aqara P1 motion sensor with Zigbee for the most part now. Was like 10EUR each at Amazon recently. Super quick, especially when it comes to cool off, and the light sensor helped realizing way more complex automations which were impossible to do in Google Home anyways.

The P1 is better to use with Home Assistant at the moment Dennis. You get some settings...but man that speed on the P2 is FAST.

Depends on the hub. Ring sometimes works in different hubs. :)

the lights are cool but i thank im at 95,000 lumens 95k thats right no typo lol in my house if i buy any more the lady will kill me. Lol 😅 the ring camera just ok. I recently did 2 reolink rcl-823a 4k ptz yes i know its in another class, recording to to my private network i can now zoom in on license plates at around 800 feet and read them with auto tracking voice call 360° motion tracking this thang is crazy , if you ever get into the cameras deep. Look reolink, lorex brands and a few others no subcriptions but require more hardware ,,, true security to me is never having my camera video saved to a non local server ,

I recently just bought the P2 sensors the door and the PIR and I love them but I hate that you can't change any of the settings on smarthings. And the other thing that I don't like is smart things keeps disconnecting from them or going offline and then I end up having to repair them because they won't come back online but it's not only my aqara matter devices it's also my govee matter rope and some matter plugs and it's just really annoying when they won't go back online and I have to repair them.

Matter and Settings, that's the current issue for sure! I think it's about to get better with the M3 Hub from Aqara though...stay tuned!
