Alaska’s abandoned copper mine Kennekot has loads of lazurite in it. I walked on top of turned soil and picked few gorgeous blue rocks.

The mines in Kennecott, Alaska, only produce azurite, another blue mineral of copper carboante, which is different from lazurite, the blue mineral in lapis lazuli.

Chinese vermilion is an artificial pigment produced from either cinnabar or other mercury ore. Cinnabar is the natural red mercuric sulfide mineral.
