On our way to our 4th stay at Le Bora Bora this upcoming New Years! We first stayed there in December/January 2020/21, right after they re-opened after their full renovation (I believe they re-opened in September or October). We've been to Bora Bora multiple times and have stayed and visited most of the resorts and I have to say that Le Bora Bora, in my opinion, is the best value for the money! You get pretty close to the 5 star motu resort experience for much less!

Enjoy your upcoming trip!! Indeed, this is our first choice in Bora Bora based on what you get for the price. We also did Le Taha'a this summer and it was an awesome and authentic experience. We recommend to combine it, if you have time.

Hi there I see on the video it says as expensive as Conrad and Four Seasons. Is this better than both of them ? I see great reviews on both of them. Also is getting a pool in your bungalow worth it ? Looking to go here next year am so jealous of you that have been! So exciting

@@robertbourke8618 Hello! As I was working to book another New Years trip to Le Bora Bora, I noticed the big price increase this year. Over the last few years since the full renovation, they’ve been adding different things trying to position themselves as a top choice resort. For the most part and at previous prices, I did feel they were the best value for the money! As I priced 9 nights for the upcoming New Years, I saw they’d be more expensive than IC Thalasso, which took me by surprise. Le Bora Bora’s owb are relatively small compared to the ones at IC Thalasso and the other 5 star resorts, in a way losing its value, especially if traveling with a kid, as the bigger bungalows accommodate 3 a lot more comfortably. Therefore, they were not our choice for our 8th trip to paradise that would have been our 5th time at Le Bora Bora in the last 4 years.

You don't need to be a first-timer to go out on snorkel excursions. Every resort we go to, we preschedule multiple snorkeling excursions. Can't get enough. One thing we did note, was the lack of coral around the Bungalows at Le Bora Bora. We spent 6 days at Hilton Resort in Mo'orea in their premium overwater bungalows, and the snorkeling right from our deck was spectacular. We will be going to Le Bora Bora in May 2025 for the first time.

You are right, there are no corals around the bungalows, the water is beautiful, but boring. However, just 5 min by boat is the coral garden, and that is very impressive. We stayed in Hilton Moorea as well in 2023 - the coral situation is a bit better, yet not impressive.

@@PremiumTravelClub True, the coral around the bungalows at Hilton Mo'orea were not impressive. One of our bucket list destinations is Wakatobi Dive resort in Indonesia. That is truly a diver's paradise.

The Bali Hai Boys from California were the first to build overwater bungalows in the 1960s at the Bali Hai on Mo’orea not the Pearl Beach.

I just read about the Bali Hai Boys. I guess you are right. Pearl Beach has some history corner and they proudly market that as well.

The guys are from California believe it or not. And I believe only one is still alive. Businessmen from California who quit their jobs for a dream. They got the idea from seeing fishermen's huts that were built over the water. People thought they were crazy and it would not sell, but travelers , especially Americans loved the idea. They appeared in an Islands Magazine (now defunct magazine since 2016) Issue maybe around 10 years ago. I spent most of my almost 30 years going to Tahiti on Mo'orea and always passed the Bali Hai Hotel near Cooks Bay. It had a reputation back in the day but so many new big resorts have eclipsed it and the Bali Hai does not get much mention any more. The Club Med on Mo'orea (and Bora Bora closed in 2009) were also big names back in the day. I remember when Club Med on Moorea closed in 2000. We were worried about all of the workers losing their jobs. There was a fire at Club Med a few years later and a few of the buildings were destroyed. It lays abandoned to this day. Many of the establishments that gave Tahiti a name and were written in song have disappeared unfortunately. A great loss. The Tahiti you are seeing today is nothing like it was before street lights and the internet and LUXE resorts showed up. I liked it much more then. The famous Mai Tai was created by a bar owner in California, San Francisco I believe, who visited Tahiti and wanted to create a drink that reminded him of Tahiti. He asked the opinion of some Tahitians who visited him in California what they thought about it and one said - Mai Tai. That was it. You should read TO LIVE IN PARADISE by RENE ROOSEVELT DENIS. there are some used copies still on Amazon. I met her at a telephone booth on Moorea in 1996. She is very interesting. She is related to the Roosevelts and was close to Marlon Brando when he spent time in Tahiti. . @@PremiumTravelClub

Your video says formerly a Pearl Beach resort. Is it not anymore? Who owns it, and are there still Pearl Beach resorts?

They renovated during pandemic and they did change the name of all Pearl Beach resorts. Now they call the resorts “LE” + island name, e.g Le Tahiti, Le Taha’a, Le Tikehau, etc. Now they are part of Relais & Chateaux chain.
