Jason! Yes, please do a jazz version like this one!

Brilliant episode, Jason! I learned more playing in a trio with Mikyung and Dominik this year than I have in a long time. Studying the greats is the formula!

Thanks, Paul-much appreciated! It’s so cool that you were in a trio with them!

That particular video of Mikyung occurred when she was walking around campus (at Colburn), I believe with her then-boyfriend, and happened to walk past the bass storage. On a whim, she took her bass out, and with zero warmup, played that.

this was gold, thank you. I'd love a jazz version too!

Excellent vid Jason. So nice to see you include etudes I have actually spent time on (either the pieces themselves, or others by the performers) - it gives me a big boost - thinking "I was right to take a gamble with all that time thrown in with those people". And your comments also often hit the mark - confirmation of inkling suspicions - "yes, I knew it!" kind of awakenings. Especially the athletic thing - I had thought it was just my own indulgence - but as a Tai Chi & martial arts practitioner, I strongly suspected 'good Chi' & posture is so important - AND you can get good at it, AND get a workout, AND fix things like back problems into the bargain.

Nice topic to present Jason…leave it you! On my iPad I could hear the bass volume with perfectly fine clarity and with a repeat listen with headphones was super fine! Salient features: stance…kinetic movement and bow hold expressions varied by each musician nicely referred. Thank you for doing all you do! 🙌🏽

Thanks for this great vid! Love all these players and it's really nice to compare traits. Didn't knew Foley studied with Meyer but now , it make sense (terrific bow despite few use of the wrist!!!) Rabbath is really "the dude" posture . Watching Karr, i imagined him playing Benny Hill score😁

Greetings to Charles, I met him during my time as orchestra player in Boca del Río, he coached my section for a week. Had a wonderful time eating tacos and drinking all together.

The volume of the bass players is too long compared to your speaking volume, Jason, at least for me and my computer audio which does have good bass. I imagine the discrepancy would be even more pronounced on less bass-able speakers.

Unfortunately, Dominik has an extreme hunch in his upper spine, and poking the chin forward on difficult sections that further shortens the back of his neck.

I want to acknowledge, though, the beautiful playing from all. Thank you so much for sharing. Such valuable insights.
