I am an advocate for truth and healing. So naturally, therefore, my emotional mastery method might initially feel a bit rough. I dated a narcissist before I dated my husband. I knew my husband was probably going to become my husband when I was being particularly passive aggressive out of habit, and he was able to sit down with me and tell me *calm and firmly* that what I was doing was an abusive behavior, and that our relationship wasn't going to work out if I continued doing that - and it was really important to him that this relationship worked out. He was ***23*** and able to do that. I'd never had someone tell me they valued a relationship with me before, so I stepped up, and we've been together almost 13 years.

We are looking for maturity in moderation. Intensity is generally a sign of codependence and higher levels of toxicity. That doesn’t mean we should always stay away from them because if you have two people willing to do the work on their perfect imperfections, they can be amazing healers for each other. They just have to recognize that when the troubles come it all has to do with their own dysfunction and less to do with the other person. They pick that person because of their imperfections and so again, if they both recognize that and do the work, they can be healers for each other

@@kennyweiss I agree with that. I think being conscious and owning your shortcomings is freer in relationships because it takes the pressure off of trying to show up perfect. (Aka fake).

Good job and dog. Plus, you’re actively working on yourself means you’ve got qualities many others find appealing. I live in Southern California and it’s usually only 2 of those (at most) qualities you’ll find.

I just found your channel last night Mr. Kenny and i am listening your videos and i REALLY LIKE how you explain things. Before i was listening only ladies in my native language, and everything looked so dramatic and serious. In your narrative is more light, easy and it is more like a way to learn if you want to live and go thru the life happy. I like how you are giving information, its logic, ordered, concrete, sounds simple (even it is really not simple 😉). The way how you Mr. Kenny as a man talk about this problem and how you describe it really speaks to my brain better than any lady i have listened. THANK YOU, I REALLY ENJOY LISTEN TO YOU, very nice and clear language, very pleasant to listen as well as your voice ❤

I used to be a hairdresser 💇‍♀️ and I wonder why they require a license for something so trivial as hair, yet no education whatsoever is required to have a child. The impact of poor parenting is lifelong and profound, I personally think prospective parents should be required to get a license lol I know that’s extreme and most will disagree with me, but think about it: our world would have so much less suffering, mental illness, addiction, crime, domestic violence, and less homelessness or poverty in one generation if all parents had a basic level of competency in their skills and if they were educated on the correct methods of child rearing. Yeah, I know that could potentially become a eugenics program in the wrong hands…. But in an ideal world…in theory it makes sense to me!

I would settle for a requirement of parents discovering what their childhood traumas are before they start down the parenting path and passing them along to their kids. I know that I for one had no idea what mine were when I started having and raising my kids.

I used to think the same but that totally goes against liberty and free will. But more importantly education does not always equal TRUE EMBODIED WISDOM. In most cases it doesn't. Good news is people are waking up now a days and stepping out of the matrix, taking charge of their own healing and actively working with therapies that ACTUALLY WORK to dissolve childhood trauma (somatic experiencing, psychedelic therapies, etc)

This is fantasy thinking There are several reasons why this is not possible 1. Even with knowledge between right and wrong a person can still choose to do wicked things simply because they “feel” like it if think it’s what’s right at the time. We don’t see past our emotions 2. Even with education and qualification, a person can still make mistakes (or in your example of a hair stylist, they will mess up a few hairstyles before it becomes second nature) because human beings are intrinsically imperfect as we are limited to our neurological permanence among other things. Practise makes perfect and the first is always the one people mess up the most…because human life is so short, and there are only so many children a person can have, by the time we have become perfect, we would have created so many imperfect experiences and those always have a domino effect (siblings can traumatise siblings out of anger). 3. Different children are affected by different things. A narcissist can be created by over-criticism or over-praising. And the same emotional environment can create completely different people (and we can’t even tell what this depends on without doing tests) There is no way of predicting how a child is going to turn out from which type of parenting. The worst people can be created where the best people were also created. 4. I mean yeah there can be a general standard of parenting but who would have the time to monitor if parents are following those standards and who is going to tell them? A 4 year old child who is brainwashed to be loyal to their parents for survival? It’s not possible, but I get the sentiment. The only way is to try and get people to do inner work and often times that’s very painful so many people would not want to do it and can just fake it to their therapist

The problem with this idea is, exactly who gets to decide what "good parenting" looks like? Over the years, different parenting styles have gone in & out of popularity, and their effects are only seen a generation later--when it's too late. Everyone can decide for themselves what methods to trust in, but as for me, I trust God's guidance for my parenting skills. I'm a "perfectly imperfect" mother for sure, but my children are all young adults now, and God's direction seems to have served us well so far.

The meta question to ask is why doesn't the government want to make parenting and relationship education mandatory in the way that they make it mandatory that you attend school to learn to read and write?

Kenny I am so thankful for all of you’re great work. Thank you so much for sharing all of these with us. You need to be all over the to and all over the world. I have been into personal development for some years now and have been following the great work of Gabor Mate, so many expert psychotherapists for many years and yet no one explains childhood trauma, why the codependents like me attract narcissists and put up with the narcissistic abuse. I’m currently doing the exercises on John Bradshaw’s book ‘Home coming’. I will be reading all of the books including yours after this. I’m so trying to change my subconscious thinking as I have children I have to try and model healthy parenting to. Could you please do a video on why women attract men like their fathers and turn into their mothers in their marriages. My dad comes from a culture where men don’t cry, growing up he was really cold and like a robot with us. I actually thought he didn’t know are names. And my mum was always critical, controlling and dominant. I now understand they too were adult children. I was hurting from emotional neglect and pain to the point where I was suicidal. I’m not as bad as my mum but my husband can be like both of my parents put together. He would withdraw love threaten to leave and always critical of everything I do. I’m building back my self esteem. However, It broke my heart when my 8 year old daughter said you too are so toxic. I obviously want to make my marriage work as I’m scared I’ll only attract men like my dad into my life. Please do a video on this if you already haven’t. Many thanks and kindest regards.

I really liked what you said about knowing ourselves and our values and such. Had I known this as a child and how the laws of the universe worked......I would have understood much sooner that my parents and I are totally in different worlds and I would have written both of them off much sooner. I would have have focused my energy on attracting a family who actually loved me and wanted me for me.

It’s funny, I’m 41 years old and it took me going through yet another breakup to learn that I needed to understand my needs, wants, values, etc. i was given this advice from the therapist I contacted to help the ex and I try and overcome the conflict. It was a game changer for me because I had never thought of these things as being important for a successful relationship. Your videos provide amazing info - thank you for sharing with all of us. I’ll spend time really going through the exercises you mentioned. Thanks again!

Kenny thank you so much for spending your time and intellectual prowess to make your your highly valuable content. Your videos have assisted me in a journey of self discovery and noticing my triggers and owning my own dysfunctions. Now, when meeting someone new, my antenna is up, listening to their language and noticing the red flags and having more discernment when choosing who gets to play in my sand box. I look forward to a time when my budget allows to buy your book and the three books you mentioned in this video and other books by John Bradshaw. I appreciate your education and the style in which you present to us, to have it be a safe space to learn.

How do we learn who are perfect imperfections play best with? I tend to show up avoidant with someone who is more anxious than me and anxious with someone who is more avoidant than me. With a narcissist I turn into someone I don’t even recognize and become a full on crime scene investigator stuck on finding the evidence that I am not delusional and that what I am seeing and feeling is actually happening. I tend to fall most in love with the avoidants and narcs.

Kenny, do you have a video or something that describes which types of dysfunctions "play well" together, or are there too many combinations to even go into it? Do you think it's healthy for a person who has experienced narcissistic abuse to connect romantically with others who have also been through that? (It seems like it would be hard to be in close relationship with anyone who does not "get it.") Thanks for your insights!
