UofL Dept. of Medicine Grand Rounds: Dr. Sarah Huen

Sarah C. Huen, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology in the Division of Nephrology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, presented "Metabolism and Nutrition in Sepsis: A Need for Precision Medicine" at University of Louisville Department of Medicine Grand Rounds on October 21, 2021.
Dr. Huen's talk focused on discussing the lessons from and limitations of recent clinical trials targeting nutritional support in critically ill patients, describing potential harms of high protein feeding in patients with sepsis, and identifying potential harms of excess dietary carbohydrates and the resulting obligate insulin needs in patients with bacterial sepsis.
