What if what you know about lands and bodies is wrong?
In this session, we will be discussing learnings from Land/Body relations in Indigenous environmental justice, and how we can relate these to health and healthcare. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Danielle Martin, DFCM Chair.
Starting with Métis and Anishinaabe approaches to Land/Body relations, Professor Murphy will share ways of understanding environmental health, building on the work of the Indigenous Environmental Data Justice Lab at U of T’s Technoscience Research Unit, where community members and academics collaborate together to address pollution in Canada’s Chemical Valley.
M Murphy is a Red River Métis from Winnipeg. They are a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Science and Technology Studies and Environmental Data Justice, Co-Director of the Technoscience Research Unit, and a Professor in History and Women and Gender Studies at the University of Toronto.
