UP 6031 with Amtrak Train 11 27sep24

Running well over 7 hrs. late today, Amtrak train #11 Coast Starlight arrives in Hercules/Pinole with a 4 unit varied power consist.....UP 6031, BNSF 5275, BNSF 4651 and AMTK 163 as the sole P42. I understand some of the power will be removed when it arrives in Oakland before continuing on to Los Angeles.

I think it would be safe to say it's now a relief that the freight locomotives were detached in Oakland. This is definitely an amazement of freight engines on Amtrak, but it feels concerning because these 6-axle diesels are far too heavy to run faster than 70-75 miles an hour. The SDP40F, P30CH and E60's were already heavy enough and more suited for freight than passenger services.
