A video showing how to tie an up and over pulley rig.
In this knot tutorial, I show what's needed and how to tie an up and over pulley rig. This particular fishing rig is great for nailing your bait to the sea bed and is my go-to rig for cod fishing from the shore. Being a clip down rig its great for casting big baits out a long way. Changing the hook is also easy as the pulley makes sure everything still clips down neatly.
What I use for the rig is:
- 1x Seadra super strong x3 crane swivel #5 130lb
- 1x Gemini Genie super strength rig clip
- 1x Breakaway proper pulley
- 2x Lineaeffe luminous oval beads
- 1x Seadra super strong x3 rolling swivel 8 85lb
- 7cm (approx) Silicone tubing
- 1x Verivas Chinu 3/0 hook
- 1x Sakuma 545 Manta Extra 3.0 hook
- 75cm (approx) of 70+ ln mono
- 150cm (approx) of 40+ lb mono
I've caught various fish with this rig, including Cod and Bass, and have always been more successful with it than a standard pulley rig or standard up and over rig.
The rig is also adaptable: use stronger or lighter line, use a pennel hook or not, use any bait clip (e.g. breakaway imp, breakaway impact lead, trident tackle roto bait clip)
