UP Challenger 3985 pulls a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Blue Unit Circus Train at Greenfield Train and rail yard simulator @PeloniusHex
@sme0212 жыл бұрын
Actual reason is cause that steam engines don't have Dynamic Brakes. Least that's why we had to have an engineer sit back in the other unit the other day when 844 came thru town.

Does UP Challenger 3985 pull a yellow coach (carrying the jugglers, clowns and acrobats), an orange stock car (carrying the elephants), a blue stock car (carrying the monkeys, horses, zebras, and camels), a light blue stock car (carrying the giraffes [whose heads are clearly sticking through the roof]), a flatcar with a calliope organ and a various circus wagon, another flatcar (carrying two other various circus wagons), another flatcar (carrying the tent and its supports), one more flatcar (carrying two more wagons), a pink stock car (carrying the hyenas, apes, bears, lions, and tigers), a light green stock car (carrying the ostriches, seals, hippos, and kangaroos), a green coach (carrying the circus workmen), and a red caboose numbered 2 (carrying the ringmaster)?

This may be a stupid question, but does UP have direct ownership in "their" special locomotives such as 6936, 3985, and 844?
@justahillbilly77773 жыл бұрын
Short answer, yes. Long answer, Uncle Pete's had the 844 under its ownership since they took delivery of it from ALCo in 1944. They've probably had the 6936 since its delivery, possibly the same for the E units. The 3985 did go off property before being put into the Cheyenne Roundhouse for a, from what I've heard, back-to-merely-running restoration, but I'm unsure if its ever left UP ownership. 4014 did go to Rail Giants in the 60's, and came back into the Uncle Pete fold in 2013 or 14. Don't quote me on any of these dates though, always put your own bit of research into things, and take comments like this one with a grain of salt.

Does anyone know why this is currently 3985's last exercusion as of 2015? Is she due for an overhaul?
@KLTrainz9 жыл бұрын
+JCBro2014 Major work is needed, same with the 844....but it appears that most of UPs interest is with getting the 4014 up and running as quick as possible
@JCBro-yg8vd9 жыл бұрын
stevelerro Ah, I see. I feel sorry for her, seeing as she's going to lose her title as the world's largest operating steam locomotive once 4014 is fired up. I hope UP doesn't forget about her.

+JCBro2014 same i have said once that i am glad that the up is restoring a big boy but lately i have been thinking that once 4014 is done with it's restoration i think it'll take the spot light away from the 844 and the 3985 I've really been into the 844 and 3985 lately i found some videos i would like to buy that fetures them steam over donner show the two engines pulling there train over the sierra Nevada mountians on their way to railfair 99 Sherman hill from machinces of iron that has and the railfair 91 video from green frog I've just been fascinated with them my reasons why the 844 is the only steam engine in the country that has never been retired from a major railroad and the 3985 is a awesome piece of machinery and i i looked up a post i found that was posted in 2012 that it won't run till 2016 next year (if it's ture or not) i just wonder if the up steam program would be the same if steve lee and bob kreiger were still working for the up the reasons what i like about the up is mostly for the steam program and the heritage units
@JCBro-yg8vd9 жыл бұрын
TrainMan 555 844 will still run, she's currently getting her 15 year overhaul. She is the only steam locomotive never to be retired from a Class 1 American railroad. 3985 will lose her claim to fame once 4014 is restored, but I hope she won't be forgotten. She could probably do a doubleheader with 4014, assuming the rails could handle all that weight.

+JCBro2014 I was thinking the same I was also thinking that they could have all three travel from their home base to nc like having the up and Norfolk southern do a thing like what csx let the 3985 on there tracks in 92 pulling the santa clause train except traveling as engines no ones ever seen and have a few of the heritage units my favorite ones are 83 96 88 and 82 I need to start liking 95 and 89 and I would like to have the lionel models of all three steam engines and all the heritage units but I wish they didn't have to cost so much also sorry I'm late replaying I just got done watching one of tm's Christmas vidoes (it's a little tradition that I watch all the Christmas train videos they made only when the holidays come and I also have the pentrex Christmas trains and clinfield vidoes as well except I got those two last year it gives me a thing to look fowrd to the holidays)
