FINALLY someone who is teaching how to do this finish! ❤❤❤❤ I just bought these products and since I’m super new at anything paint I was so confused at Home Depot so if you are ignorant like me know this.. Rugged Tan will be found under the Behr paint colors along with Natural Twine. I was looking under Gliden for like 15 min. It’s not there. The behr paint samples are in the desk with the workers. I got the semi gloss- advice of the worker. The code for Natural Twine is s310-3 and Rugged tan is N90-4, in case you really can’t find them like me lol I can’t wait to get started on my table! Fingers crossed!!

Omg i just finished glaze, on a free bedroom set I got on Facebook market place for free. This works! I’ve never tried a faux finish of any kind!I wish I could post photos, i bought the yellow but it looks so good I’m afraid to mess it up. The supplies were around 100 all from Home Depot but I used every little for the entire bedroom set. When she says use a little glaze she means it. Thanks so much for a great video.

Did this today on a textured balustrade coffee table and matching end table, absolute gorgeous finish!! Just a quick tip the glaze does not like to overlap so if you accidentally get a bit on a side your’re not working on yet clean it before it dries and you’ll have a beautiful clean finish.

She doesn't say but the glaze is an oil based product, so clean up will not be soap and water. This also looks great with fly-specks, just don't go overboard. It is very important to wait until the glaze is completely dry before adding the top coat. One BIG tip: She did horizontal strokes over wood parts that should have a vertical grain direction. Note the vertical moldings on the top of the face. Those would be lengthwise grained. So an easy way to do this properly would be to tape these off, wait for it to dry, then do vertical strokes on those sections. Easy way to explain this: Imagine a square frame with mitered corners. First do the top and bottom in the same direction with the miter taped off. Let that dry, then do the two sides, again with the miter taped off, in the opposite direction. Yes, this takes more time, but SO worth it. The last application of the light drybrush is not always needed, but sometimes, a dark aging wax is really nice. That would go on AFTER the final topcoat. The topcoat will not stick to wax.

I absolutely love your work. You make it look so easy. I have a question. I bought a solid oak table and it was in perfect condition except a tiny hole in the top. I did 2 Coates whitewash and then I filled it with white wood filler then stained it. It left that area super dark. Do I just sand that off and dig it (gently) out of the hole to get rid of the dark mess? ♥️
@blacksheephouse
@blacksheephouse Жыл бұрын
Hey! That’s frustrating to have happen, wood filler is extremely absorbent which is why you generally need to prime it before painting, if I were you I would try to paint over it to match your table color and then clear coat it all, you can mess around with color combos to see what works best, im sure you already are familiar with the faux wood looks here on the channel and one of those might match well 🖤

@blacksheephouse
@blacksheephouse Жыл бұрын
It’ll look so beautiful and you’ll be so glad you did it! You’ll need to use a natural fiber paint brush or a roller made for oil based polyurethane. The least expensive thing to use is a chip brush, but anything made for oil based finishes works fine since the oil based topcoat levels so well. I would do two coats for a dining table, 3 or 4 if children use it often and are crafty 💕
