Up righting the molars.
Impaction of the lower second molar is not a common problem, but it is challenging for both orthodontists and oral surgeons. Treatment options depend on the degree of tooth inclination, the position of the third molars, and the desired type of movement, which may be surgical and/or orthodontic in nature.
In Orthodontics, molar uprighting corrects a tilted molar. Generally, these are second molars that get caught below the back of the first molar or can result from a tooth drifting into space.
A procedure called “molar uprighting” or “minor tooth movement” can move the crooked tooth back into its proper place.
In the video, we have demonstrated a very simple technique.

Just found your channel. This is extremely helpful. I have been struggling with placing open coils between 6's & 7's. I have been resorting to using a shorter than needed spring to get it between the tubes and then increasing the force by adding flow to it. Thanks for this!

can I ask your opinion how to upright horizontally impacted tooth ? I ve got photos if you are willing to look.
@rajjabbal
@rajjabbal Жыл бұрын
these are more challenging - completely horizontally impacted teeth need high amounts of anchorage, should be done using TADs and should be monitored carefully so as not to open the bite - the issue is always that you do not always have a tooth behind it for support of the wire, so 2 x TADs are better, one in the front, and one in the back

@@rajjabbalI have a wisdom tooth growing in the bottom left corner of my jaw, it’s partially erupted and it is not very impacted. I have photos of my X-rays and I’m trying to see if it can be uprighted because I do not want to remove it unnecessarily.

hi Dr may i ask how to solve side effect of open coil spring using on light round wire this case
@cephtacticsdental
@cephtacticsdental 2 жыл бұрын
1) Keep tube more occlusal so as not to extrude/cause open bite 2) Use light push coil so as to avoid spaces between the teeth 3) Ensure the wire at the back is long enough to allow the tooth to move. 4) Don't cut flush as the wire can come out

Wisdom tooth can be corrected through orthodental treatment

Not every case of a wisdom tooth can be corrected; some must be extracted, while others are left untouched. The decision heavily depends on individual needs

@@cephtacticsdental Could an Oral surgeon do molar uprighting? Could it be done instead of extraction?

Really? If so then that’s awesome! I have a third molar growing in the bottom left corner of my jaw and it’s partially erupted and it’s not very impacted. I just got my braces taken off after 8 years and when I asked my dentist about the tooth, he says I should get it removed before I turn 30 (I just turned 21 so I have some time). The tooth is growing in more, I can feel it. I can also feel the discomfort and pain of biting down on the the gum/tooth (maybe it’s also my molars on my upper jaw coming into contact causing all that traction?) but I hope this is possible to have done.

Hi @user-oo3be5co4o this is a good question. We would advise a wire bending course similar to the one we run and to use a Power Arm rather than a tube. I hope this helps and if you are looking for more support please check out our new clinician support software www.cephtactics-dental.com/cocad

In case what tooth has used to be anchor?
@cephtacticsdental
@cephtacticsdental 2 ай бұрын
Hi @user-oo3be5co4o, thank you for the message. Many times you will need to use multiple teeth - 4, 5, 6 would be ideal, however, we would recommend using TADs (which are very easy) and means less reciprocal movements. I hope this helps and if you are looking for more support please check out our new clinician support software www.cephtactics-dental.com/cocad

If the wisdom tooth is over the 7, it becomes very complicated, however even if there is an impacted 8 you can still upright the 7 with this technique as the roots do not move as much. Please email us if you have more questions - info@cephactics.com

Hi doc, how about the plan treatment if tooth no 7 (second molar) may be buccoversion or linguoversion? Can we correct it without tad/miniscrew? Thanks

my opinion is always consider one dimension first then the other. so correct AP then consider transverse. if you try and do everything at once the risks increase, .....sometimes you may be lucky but don't take the risk!

this is more challenging consider "NON CONTROL ORTHODONTICS" this means that you use elastics from the lower buccal and upper palatal, if not we can design a removable appliance for you to corect this with fixed appliances open the lower ss wire and round ss wire in the upper. send us a message if there are more issues....
