UP SD70ACe 8444 on AYMO - Shirley, MA - 5/29/10

Filmed this at the Shirley Mass MBTA station. I nearly jumped out of my shoes when he blew for the crossing, even though I was braced for it. Probably the loudest train horn I've ever heard, though my perceptions may be distorted by the fact that I was about 10 feet away from it. It's a pity I can't really do anything about the automatic volume limiting on my camera. The sun may not have been very cooperative, but a great catch none the less.

It's a k5hl horn, k5lla sounds different

Looks like UP loves installing K5HL’s as replacement horns on most of their trains since UP 1982 has one and UP 8149 (SD90MAC) did have one too before, I’m guessing, getting sold off the NS to be rebuilt into an SD70ACU

Interesting to see Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern locomotives together in Massachusetts. I only saw something like this once in Allston at the Sports Depot (now Pizzeria Regina) Great catch.

Dont worry, I caught an ACe in Bald Knob Arkansas with a K5LLA and it still scared the crap out of me, and i was braced for it, and i did show in my video! I was pretty close to it too though!
