The concept of Sannyasa that was dealt with in the earlier episode is further elaborated in this episode. What prompts a person to take to a life of total spirituality? What is his/her higher calling that prompts him to voluntarily renounce? What is expected from such a person? All these ideas are taken up in this episode. Rishi Yajnavalkya won many scriptural arguments in the court of Janaka and other courts and also earned a lot of wealth and accolades. But all this while he kept having one question - Is winning over others greatness? His mind would not find peace without answers to questions like - What is true Bliss? He finds that people never missed an opportunity to establish one's supremacy over others in any field - be it caste, status, fame, wealth or knowledge. He concludes that it is wanting of joy/bliss that keeps pushing man into such actions. Hence real victory lies in freeing oneself from all bondages of sorrow and to contemplate on the Self which is of the nature of Supreme Bliss.
