I think Eggers' Nosferatu is going to be stunning. I'm excited to see his blend of historical accuracy and 19th century romanticism (his cinematographer used this term). I am also stoked for the cast, I think all of them are suited for a period piece, either for their proven acting skills in period pieces or their looks. If it's anything like his other projects it will be gritty, poetic, realistic yet mysyical. In short I'll probably love it.

I love your optimism. Imagine if it was filmed the same way as Chris Nolan's Openhiemer with lots of close face shots as well as breathtaking vistas of the haunting landscapes that surround the castle. It will be stunning either way and I share your excitement 👍

What has fascinated me most with Eggers' movies is that while each one is different in terms of aesthetic and technique, setting and plot, they all share one unifying aspect: Their unique genre blend, which is character driven period drama with authentic production design, cross-pollinated with psychologically strong thriller and/or horror leanings, cross-pollinated with a mythological aspect that is deeply encultured within the time period in which the story is set and which can be taken at face value as a metaphysical force or interpreted symbolically as informing the characters' behavior on a conscious or subconscious level. A lot of these movies' thrills and horrors come with not being able to tell which way it goes, and with how much the zeitgeist and its ideological, moral or religious bigotry can drive people to extremes - or, how in extreme situations people tend to fall back into forging pacts with the irrational. I hope that Eggers keeps doing this sort of thing, as it is pretty unique and I cannot think of many cinematic storytellers who can pull this off.

@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Well, as a fan of the novels, I disliked this series from the start. There were a lot of unnecessary changes that often made the stories feel incomplete. For instance, in one of my favorite short stories, "Lesser Evil," the core message is that Geralt is faced with choosing between two evils and ultimately realizes that such a choice is always wrong. Unfortunately, that crucial aspect is completely lost in the series. As for visual aspect this setting should be a lot more gritty. Just like im Eggards films ;)

@@dicnar well said. I should read the novels I'm thinking now. The Witcher 3 still remains my fav game but I just started series 3 and I don't know if it's supposed to be a comedy or are they trying to insult us. Dandelion is maybe the worst cast in the show, jeez! What a mess.

On another not this falls in place at the right time with the current post-punk darkwave/goth music revival that has broken into the alternative mainstream between the 2010s to present (2024) and has alot of the romantic gothic vampire imagery at the forefront so avid fans would surely want to see this modern Nosferatu film

I'm looking forward to the new Nosferatu film. There's just one problem. Nosferatu pretty much is the first known (or rather surviving) Dracula adaptation. Seeing how often Dracula was adapted (more or less loosely) it seems to be hard for Nosferatu 2023/24 to stand out in all these movies. Doesn't help that we have a Dracula movie now that clearly digs the Nosferatu look (Last Voyage of the Demeter). My biggest worry is that Eggers just rehashes Coppola's Dracula, but it's Germany instead of England and Dracula is ugly instead of a handsome dude. In terms of looks I hope it at least resembles the OG somewhat. Nosferatus stand out trait to most other Dracula "copies" is his creep-design and his eerie movements. But I'm open for a surprise.

@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE Yeah. I hope that Eggers surprises me. In a positive way. Speaking of the Demeter movie, I saw it today and was pleasantly surprised. It's a very fun monster horror flick. It could have relied a little bit less on jumpscares, but it's at least very well shot, composed and atmospheric. A really fresh take on Dracula that took the Captains Log from the novel and made its own isolated story out of it. For me it's a solid 7/10 movie. Not the once in a lifetime Dracula movie (like Nosferatu, Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee or the Coppola version) but easily in the upper tier of Dracula adaptations.

Robert Eggers is an excellent director and I'm glad he's adapting Dracula by Bram Stoker. I never liked the film Bram Stoker's Dracula by Francis Ford that turned a horror story into a story of love and cheating in the style of Anna Karenina. Now it will be a horror story and not romance. If we go by the leaked script (or rather an earlier draft from 2016) and assume Eggers hasn't changed much, we're in for a pretty good time. I had no problem with Eggers inserting the Oedipus complex into the Northman. It's natural that Eggers will make changes to the story and I have no problems with him introducing issues of psychoanalysis into Nosferatu like he did in his other films. I'm curious how Eggers will develop Ellen's interaction with Nosferatu, how he will approach her and how she will lure him into a trap, giving herself to him, so that he can be killed. Will there be a conversation between them like in the 1979 remake. I wonder if Hunter could become a vampire at the end like what happened in the 1979 remake of Nosferatu. Or if Ellen sends Hunter flying while she attracts the nosferatu and he returns and sees her dead. Eggers must have made changes and polished some scenes in his script.

I understand what you say buddy but i'm about to release another vid in the next couple of days covering the recent interview with Eggers. Honestly, he says so many things that gives me major confidence. He's also not made a bad film yet. I have faith :)

Oh I don't think Eggers can do wrong, he's amazing, so i'm completely on board. I do think the look of Orlock will be very important. I mean a 100 year old stills from the original are still some of the most frightening looking vampire images. Kinski looked amazing, deFoe looked pretty good, even Mr. Barlow but they all owe it to the original. Can't wait to see. I assume you've see the look, and have some NDA to not share? @@ENTERTAINtheDUDE

as for skarsgard.. i didn't love the IT films, but there was no doubt that he killed it as pennywise, the design and performance were superb and I couldn't imagine better than Curry when I found out about the remake.

Why do you say that? Has any of Eggers previous work dissapointed you or you just not a fan of Nosferatu perhaps? Otherwise I agree that Phantom needs a good movie 100% but if only we could clone Eggers haha, too many bland directors working today ;)

@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE the best thing about eggers is that he doesnt makr remakes, dude makes new stories or at least an original take besides all nosferatus have proven to be a failure, the OG is a masterpiece of cinema so its hard to top it off P.s except for adjani in the 70s and dafoe in the parody, theres nothing worth it in the remakes

No one will be able to top Francis Ford Coppola's film of Bram Stoker's Dracula in the next 20-30 years. Perhaps there will be some outstanding director with an original vision and filming technique. Understand one thing: it is not enough to put disturbing music, make a gloomy background, etc. You also need good acting, an interesting cast, memorable music, etc. Nosferatu has none of that, so it won't be interesting for more than one viewing.

The core development needs to be great I agree. Anyone with talent can make Nosferatu a great story and film. The same can be said about any production. It is rarely seen but it can happen in the right hands.

@@ENTERTAINtheDUDE To discuss Coppola's creation, you need to see how the film was made. You can find additional materials for the film or download them from a torrent. The process of making the film itself is a masterpiece. Coppola used such cinematography, camerawork, and acting techniques that no one before him had used. In a word, - genius ! Almost all of his films are masterpieces of cinema.
