Perhaps your new neighbor can put up a some kind of canvas or shield to block the dust so it won’t blow your way like how things are built in the USA .
@buildingthephilippines4 ай бұрын
Excavation is complete so most of the dust will stop. Really the only thing you can do is wet the exposed dirt down daily. Hard to accomplish everyday.

Wow that’s a nice surprise 😊 A new neighbor/subscriber. Can’t wait to meet them 👍 also, you are very proficient in cleaning your pool. Very clean person . Also with Wilma keeping the home clean and tidy. Very clean couple . ❤

Hiya As always a lovely video, why not get a plastic pool cover just to use whilst construction finished next door otherwise your 2 hr cleaning will be regular....looking 4ward to hopefully seeing your neighbours build step by step.....keep smiling 😊

Your sleepy little subdivision is growing up!😮 I was going to ask you, when we met on the 9th, if the lot on the south side of yours was still vacant. But if there’s a house-sized rock there, I guess I’ll pass 😂🤣
@buildingthephilippines4 ай бұрын
Lol, that will be a big challenge. That lot sold about a year ago from a couple from the US.

Greg and Wilma, good to see a new video, and make no excuses for living a full and happy retirement. It will be a great video treatment to see your new neighbors property as they build their dream retirement home. You are right, there is no way to stop the dirt, as they are excavating the property in getting it ready to build. Sounds like both of you are excited to get new neighbors. Stay healthy and live your life, and don’t feel any pressure to keep the subscribers happy😊

Hi Jim, my first correction. It's going to be a one story home. I was incorrect on the video. Nonetheless, they have the high ground. That's very important.

Both works, if you buy really look into the structure. It's what you can't see that matters. Good luck.
@lmcc00724 ай бұрын
@@buildingthephilippinesGoing by what some vloggers have experienced with their rentals, I would be afraid to buy an existing property there unless I know who built it and trust that they do good work and use quality materials. Even if the structure is solid, is it wired for electricity properly? Were quality windows, tiles, wiring, etc…used? How is the foundation? Do they have quality building inspectors there and do they stand by their inspections?
@buildingthephilippines4 ай бұрын
@lmcc0072 I personally would not buy existing but that's me. Building is cheaper and you design it exactly the way you want it. Building inspectors no, doesn't exist. However, your engineer and/or architect should look over the build for quality. As a homeowner, take responsibility and be on site as well. If you can.

Well, so much excitement for dirt, swimming pool cleaning, a lot of emission to come such as building noise and a two floor house right beside the one store house and all of that just after finishing the own project. I could definitely imagine different exciting happenings that would be more favourable. It is somewhat sad, that everyone can build, whatever he likes. Very few restriction what size and visibility is concerned. If everyone would test out the limits, you can imagine how the quarter would look like in 5 years.

It comes down to being an optimist as compared to a pessimist. So many people today don't even realize they are the latter. We are happy for our new neighbors and we want to share in their happiness.

Once your neighbor is done you’ll get a lot of protection from the wind. Two story, not good for getting old. Not sure why old people always go so big when they’re empty nesters. Have friends that have done the same here in the states. Buy or build bigger homes than when they actually had the kids living at home. When I say old I include myself. I’ve never lived in a two story home and never will, nor ever build or buy a home bigger than needed. Seems line you’ll have a nice senior living community. All for that.

Hello Greg. Thanks for all the videos and Hardwork. I appreciate it.Thnks. Sorry for asking. What is a 10%'er.. ? Also, Your house, @168m2 seems like a perfect size to me. From what you have shown-us; the design seems modern-looking, and elegant. Going larger will significantly impact operating costs which is often overlooked by "first-time builder". (This may not be a concern for your neighbors (?).

A 10% is an expat that moves to the Philippines, in a long term relationship and not concerned with building/buying their own home. Coined phrase we made to highlight a minority of foreigners who trusts their spouse and just want to enjoy their retirement. Most expats rent for various reasons.

Hello Wilma & Greg, good catching up with you guys once again. I look forward to seeing the new house build - Filipino style - next door. One of my hobbies is house construction, renovation and anything DIY. I’ve studied building science for several years, so am very interested to see how construction is done in the tropics. Is the ‘Engineer’ you are referring to, who wishes to promote himself, an Architect? I imagine he must be. I’ve met and worked with some very skilled Architects here in Japan.

Make sure your sand (silica) in the sand filter is clean, buy a test kit to see if water PH is off. May need baking soda (soda ash) or acid. PH result will tell you.

Nice place. Regarding "The Boulder from the Planet of Rocks". Did you consider blasting. I'm looking at a lot in Zamboanguita and it appears to be mostly bedrock, exposed in many spots. Your thoughts...opinions.

I inquired about that, but I was told it's uncommon around here. They build fire around the rock, get it hot and pour lots of water on it to get it to crack.

We don't know and wouldn't ask. So many people here just ask outright. We don't do that. However, prices in the area for a view, clean title, water and electric available is about 2500 to 3000 pesos per square meter.
