Just turned over 28,440 miles on my 2016 Ram Crew Sport. No major issues , though the 2nd time I used the windshield wipers, the wiper motor quit. Got a loaned car for the rainy weekend. I have taken several trips to Las Vegas from SoCal. I averaged between 24-26 mpg each way. I am very happy with the mileage. Added locks to my under floor compartments, tailgate snubber, running board steps and a few other items as well. I really like the new style of the RAM, but I have an incredible factory warranty that was offered for a VERY short time. So I plan on keepiong this Truck a very long time! :-)

I basically have the same truck minus the etorque, but add 3.92 gears. Best truck I’ve owned so far and I’ve had Ford and GMC previously. I have 8,300 miles with no issues other than Apple CarPlay doesn’t always load immediately which isn’t often, but I unplug it and replug it back in. It’s happened like 5 times. I keep track of my mileage on a spreadsheet and have averaged 17.6 overall which includes a trip to Florida and several trips hauling the boat. The dash reading shows 18.5 or 19 so a little off and I’ve never reset it on trip B. Trip A I reset each tank. 12-13 towing and 18-21 commuting. For your towing receptacle issue, I’d get a seven pin conversion to four pin. It would then be in the bottom socket.

I shopped long and hard for a full-sized 2019 pickup with price, features and mileage being the main drivers. I looked primarily at Toyota, Ford, GMC and Ram. Some things I wanted were a V-8 engine, a bench seat and a limited slip rear end with 4-Wheel Drive and two-tone paint. This combination of options because of the six passenger configuration force me to accept a mid-class model in all brands except the Ram. The Ram offered the upgrade of leather interior while the others only offered cloth. Long story short, I bought a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Crew Car 4 X 4 with everything I wanted and more options than I will ever use. It listed for $57,125, and bought it for $45,000 out the door plus tags, tax and title. None of the other models remotely came close with an all cash, no trade offer to buy. I have now had the Ram for six months with 2700 miles on it, and its combined mpg for 2700 miles is 20.1 mpg. I live in the East Tennessee hills and I have made a round trips to Kokomo, Indiana and Baltimore, Maryland. Show me a Ford, GMC or Toyota with a 395 hp engine That can get that mileage, and I will gladly admit I made a mistake. I do not solicit comments from anyone, but people voluntarily say to me, "What a beautiful truck."

Hey RC, I liked the video and subscribed. I'm on my 2nd RAM 1500 leased, 2017 and now the 2019. In addition to your list of likes/dislikes I just wanted to add I loved both trucks and had zero problems with the 2016. The 2019 had to have the gas tank replaced because of 'known' tripping the pump release during gas filling (covered by dealer). The front parking sensors stopped working and show service needed. Dealer says a rock must have hit front sensor and caused it to fail. (not covered by warranty) and will cost $700. to replace that 1 sensor. crazy to think every time a rock hits the bumper, may cost me that to restore this feature. The sensors are a great and necessary feature but they need to make them easier to replace then. These 2019 sensors list for $210. on the web. Just FYI to every one. Love everything else.

As far as reliability..... I'm not a 'RAM boy' either. I do have a 2013 RAM 1500 sport 5.7L with the ZF 8sp trans which is the only FCA product I've owned and if I am being honest I only bought it because my buddy is an FCA employee and he was able to give me his employee discount which made it too good to pass up. My truck has 215,000 km (135,000 miles, sorry I'm in Canada lol) and it has been fabulous! Aside from regular maintenance the only things I've had to replace are one front hub, the u-joint on the end of the steering shaft and a fuel pressure sensor. That's it and I live in Muskoka (Cottage country 2 hrs north of Toronto) where the roads are twisty and bumpy and the winters are severe so I am VERY impressed with the reliability of this truck. I will admit that some of the maintenance stuff is a bit pricey . Things like spark plugs which are $600 cdn to replace (there are 16 of them) and their recommended interval of 48,000 km (30000 miles) is a bit ridiculous. I've only done mine once and it runs fine. Fluids for this truck, coolant, gear lube transfer case oil are way more expensive than an other vehicles I've owned but thats probably true of most late model vehicles now. I will say as much as the ZF 8sp is a great transmission and works wonderfully a fluid change is $1000 cdn!!! the dealer says its a 'lifetime' fluid meaning you don't need to change it. But there is no such thing as a lifetime fluid except that if you don't change it the trans with blow up and there you go the fluid lasted the lifetime of the tranny! lol. Oddly the dealer says you don't have to change it but my owners manual says the service interval is 196,000 km. I haven't changed it yet but am going to suck up the cost and do it because I have a buddy who is a mechanic and said that ZF unit is over $8k to buy plus labour. But overall VERY happy with the truck because truthfully when I got it i was expecting some reliability issues because older Dodge trucks had issues but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one and I am going to replace mine with a 2020 this year.

When I am by myself there is no issue. Or even having 600lbs in the bed there is no issue. It all comes from the full passenger cab.

Those storage bins are nice feature I’m deciding which truck to get 2019 black out or wait for the 2020 Night edition
@rcmckonly85 жыл бұрын
jbarres80 Yeah I was looking at the night edition but they changed too much. No longer do you get the dual exhaust and the lights are the standard halogen. And to me anyway the whole front being black is too much. They needed to body color around the main part of the grill and leave the inserts the black. But that’s just me and my taste.

Get the TSB for air conditioning performance ... I think you have to ask for it but it helped my truck tremendously
@rcmckonly85 жыл бұрын
This isn’t a defect. It is suppose to do this. When the engine shuts off the belts stop spinning which powers the compressor resulting in no cold air. The blower is still blowing air. All of the auto shut off systems do it.

There's a simple mod/hack for the F150s. Just pop the switch out of the dash and jumper it. The computer always thinks that the button has been engaged. Takes less than 20 minutes to complete it. Google it for more info. Heck, same thing might work on the Rams.

I saw same thing with tail gate I ran a plug by the hitch. I am going for 24" or 22s no lift bs . Gonna throw bags so can tuck the wheels. If I want a rumble supercharge her.
@rcmckonly85 жыл бұрын
Well the lift isn't "bs" I have a 4x4. Meant for more clearance and off road purposes. You are just choosing to make a truck more like a muscle car. In my opinion it kinda defeats the purpose of the vehicle but, have seen some done up that way and look good!

I'm new to Dodge trucks. Just got a 2017 Ram 1500 Big Horn 4x4 Crew Cab 5.7L. It's gorgeous and I love it. I've had Ford F150s and have been a Ford fan. My truck came with a tow package, and my trailer connections are below the rear fender next to the hitch receiver. Which model of Ram 1500 did you get? (apologies if you mentioned it in the video)

FCA sucks! 2016 RAM 1500 hemi bad ABS Module and HCU at 28000 miles and out of warranty. Well known and documented issue and even a class action lawsuit filed against FCA. Issue is so bad you can’t even get the ABS module. On national back order so I and others are stuck driving unsafe vehicles! Way to take care of your customers Chrysler😡. Going to try and sell/trade on another brand vehicle and hopefully will have better luck.

I keep hearing about the comparison between the tundra. Kinda like comparing apples to oranges by comparing a 4.6 quad cab 4x2 Tundra to the 5.7 Etorque 4x4 Ram. Seems like the mileage you get is close to what I average in City on my 19 Crewmax 4x4. Plus the Tundra will run all 8 all the time, while the mopar will run in MDS with the Etorque. Both are great trucks for different purposes. Helps to add I traded in my 16 Hemi Ram for my 19 Crewmax Tundra.
@rcmckonly85 жыл бұрын
Which is exactly what I stated. I find that hard to believe. That the Tundra 5.7 is getting the same as the Ram MSD 5.7 city when the 4.6 wasnt even close. So the 5.7 isn’t going to get better.
@jaymason9825 жыл бұрын
Close was the keyword. And my only guess would be the fact that maybe the 4.6 being a smaller motor on an already very heavy truck could cause an issue with mileage, as well as the aftermarket wheels depending on how heavy they where over stock. Stop and go traffic always kills it on the crewmax. But minus that and a semi light foot I’ve seen high 14s to mid 15s on mileage. Just depends on how traffic is. Possibly area and driving style as well. But on a different note, did they finally fix the terrible transition in and out of MDS when just cruising around the city? Mine use to drive me absolutely crazy cause it would shutter when coming back to all 8 at the slightest hint of throttle.
@rcmckonly85 жыл бұрын
@@jaymason982 I dont even notice it at all! Like it doesnt even exist honestly. They only shutter i feel is when the truck shut off at a stop

I think the complaint with the Tundra having a lot less power is not a valid point. Get the 5.7 V8 and that might feel even more powerful than the ram with a 4.30 rear end.
@rcmckonly85 жыл бұрын
Well it is a very valid point since I was comparing it to the 4.6. Not the 5.7. And still I drove the 5.7 Tundra as well. It wasn’t even close!
@hellkitty10145 жыл бұрын
The 5.7 Tundra does have 4.30s, but you will definitely pay for it at the pump and it is still not as quick as a 5.7 Ram with the 3.21s and certainly not with the 3.92.
