Update 217 (Payday 2)

Originally wanted to upload this on my second channel but decided not to so that I have some content on the main channel for now since the next proper video will take some time I guess.
Dunno what else to say, the update ain't that great.

Just a little correction, motion sickness and screen shake is not the same. The idea of a dot in center of your screen is not to help you aim or to reduce the shaking, it's to give an inconcious goal for your eyes to focus on. Overwise your brain would try to focus at a far distance (let's say the corner of the street on a map) when your eyes would tell you that you are looking at a much closer object (your actual screen), creating what we call "motion sickness". The confusion often come from the word "motion" which is miss interpreted as "you are looking at something that is moving to much" when in real it mean "your brain think you are moving when you are actually not". So adding an extra layer above the game for that dot is very helpful for ppl that suffer from motion sickness (and btw the dot not being pixel perfect in the center is not important, it just need to be somewhere on your screen your eyes are always focusing). Therefore this addition should have been made long ago

Cheers for the correction, I am wondering how and why it took Overkill so long to add something like this in the first place, it's not like it is something insanely complex to add.

@@unclegeldgeil And even then, they messed up the centering. I could literally go into photoshop and center a dot EASILY by clicking 2 buttons haha

As I said, it is not really important that the dot is not pixel perfect in the center, it is obviously because they designed it as a 8pxl (the one that exactly fit in the center) and then applied a basic up scale / down scale for other sizes without double checking if it was correctly placed.

@@unclegeldgeil i suppose it's because they didn't want people to have an in-game option for something that could replicate a crosshair, forcing you to use the lasers or ads tho ngl, even tho eve been using it at 8 pixes as a crosshair to see what it's like, it has been easier on my eyes having a dot i can see at times so I might keep it on

PD2 Updates usually are a big "meh", they tend to be really not interesting, and when they are it is stuff like the Leech Perk Deck or the Weapon DMG Falloff update which both are quite dumb in my eyes. I appreciate Overkills attempt at making good updates but most of them are just really bad.

@@unclegeldgeil I guess any way to shake up the game is a good way in their eyes. but why add a crosshair now? what the hell. maybe it's a test to see if people want it in PD3? they've got a lot of opportunities to test their future features on us rn

@@no1normal750 That's a pretty good point, I am sure they do some sort of testing to see what might be good for PD3 using PD2 as a guide, the problem with that is that their attempts at the moment aren't too great given that the Crosshair isn't even centered. Or when they added the DMG Falloff, it is literally nothing more than some the weapons being less fun to use - no rebalance or anything just weapons being more frustrating to fire. But hey maybe they know better from their mistakes and learn from it to (hopefully) put up a "decent" game that PD3 might be. We can just hope for the best really

@@unclegeldgeil their work really does seem rushed last couple of updates I've seen, but well bad update or not we still have a good game. I'm not a DSOD player tho so idk about how it affects top players

@@no1normal750 People like KevKild recently stopped playing simply because of the recent updates, then the quite decent amount of BS you tend to encounter on DSOD are 2 reasons why good players dislike this game and just leave it after having done pretty much everything once or twice. As much as the game sometimes annoys me I still have quite a big amount of fun with it somehow? Right now I sit just below 7k hours and could do a few more, unless they add something that completely ruins the game but I doubt.

I do hope they include more add more exclusive sets myself, it's an interesting concept (also I wouldn't mind if they made the exclusive stats as strong as manually attaching mods, or even in some aspects stronger than mods - like getting more accuracy than possible with gun mods but youll have less stability than if you moded it yourself)

I‘d give that sucker a 1/10, 2 "QoL" changes that the community took long i to their own hands since like 2014, a butt ugly mask and the weapon mod…well, now that you gave a short yet actually good reason for it existing for newbies or the rare DLC-less chads, but still inferior than actually modding the damn thing with barrels, receivers and grips.

Also the Car Vs Car achievement doesn't actually require to to kill a turret Only deal 5% of the damage, then have someone kill it... Which is 2 bullets to the lense but yeah sure cool overkill

Correct me if Im wrong but isn't the no screen shake mod basically 100 stability therefore cheats?

I know it looks like you have less recoil, but it is still the same as in vanilla game, there is only no screen shake but still the very same amount of recoil. Meaning the mod isn't cheating.
