Mark what has happened to the layout and your self?

I really enjoyed your videos. I check in every year or so to see if there's any activity on your railway. I hope you are well.

Hey bud. Just wondering how your doing. Not seen video from you for 12 months now so thought would check in. I’ve moved house to South Wales and sadly my layout is now all in boxes up the attic of our new house. Think will be up there a few years sadly.

Hi Buddy, sorry for such a long delay, kinda goes to show how often I visit YT now a days... All is ok here with me, just having fun doing other things and work takes up a lot of my free time now. Can't you do something like I did with patio layout, nice simple and helps to satisfy that urge to run trains. Keep safe buddy.

Psychiatric professionals say that a man needs his own space, his own "man cave". Check into it, tell your wife, and you should be able to get either that layout room or the garden space for your trains. It worked in my marriage! (Great to have you back making videos, too!)

Yea, lucky to have both the garage and the garden, I'll get that garden railway one way or another and looking forward to it :0)

Welcome back mate, I've been absent for about 5 years now but I'm back now too. Furloughed creates Furrowed brows. Good to see ya :)

Furlough is a term typically used in the military. It means to have a leave or absence with permission. It actually is a Dutch/German word for "leave". We don't use it in The US navy. It's more Army I think. It has been used for at least 200 years. I've really wanted a greenhouse as well, but the wife doesn't care for the idea, so guess who wins that one. LOL! O gauge is a really good and plentiful gauge, so will work well for you. Have fun. Hopefully the furlough will not last long, and life will go on as normal. Take care my friend. Regards, Solomon

Hi Solomon, my furlough comes to an end this Friday as back to work on Monday, that should be interesting and looking forward to it. You'll have to keep working on you good lady Solomon, all the great things you can grow in a green house, not to mention BBQ when it's raining :0)

@hukcoi4 жыл бұрын
boggies world its a leave of absence normally for service personnel.

Thank you,

Furlough is a leave of absence, especially granted to a member of the services. I was in the army back in the day. Cannot wait to see your progress on what ever your projects are you're such an entertaining person. Keep it up.

Hi Mark. I only came across your channel a few weeks ago and have been binge-watching (almost) all of them and, obviously, now caught up. I somehow missed the fact that you were "absent" (furloughed - the non-COVID type?) for two years!. So, it was a massive shock to hear that had sold off two-thirds of your locos and rolling stock - and looking to sell the rest (I would have offered yo buy some of it, but my layout is going to be N gauge) and rip up the track! You have expended so much time, effort and money into your layout, it is such a shame that it is coming to an end; there was also so much more to do on the upper level of the layout. Although you didn't come right out and say so, I guess it's the financial aspect of Debbie's redundancy and your being laid off (only three weeks?). So, I think that the anticipated cost of finishing the layout (are they ever finished?) was a factor... Although, the garden layout won't be cheap, either. Well, you've been "missing" now for nearly four months - I hope you and Debbie are well and look forward to seeing you soon!

For some reason I've seen more accidents since all this started than I did in the 7 years I've been driving that route, bizarre it is.
@Poliss954 жыл бұрын
They call it furloughed because it sounds better than being laid off, which is what it really is.
@WesternCenturion4 жыл бұрын
Lol, how true is that, lucky to be getting 100% pay though.

I've seen your garden, I don't think it's big enough for O gauge. OO would be much better. You can only be furloughed if you are in the US army otherwise you are laid off. Take care you two. David.
@WesternCenturion4 жыл бұрын
Hi David, I've got a couple of ideas in my head at the moment which will give a large area for the garden layout, a lot of running space, I'll have to see closer to the time when i've finished the garage and garden. You both keep safe and well.
@rossnation80924 жыл бұрын
Hmm don’t know about furloughing. I suggest you put your O gauge garden railway pot in an savings account and let it build interest whilst you negotiate with Debbie.... OR ......... Remember it is always easier to beg for forgiveness than as for permission ;) Thank god for the lorry hey? You really couldn’t see the car in the fast lane. Thank goodness it’s wasn’t worse than what it already was. Anyways stay safe and keep up the good work. Cheers, Ross

Lol, it's going to be a long time before I start the garden railway project so should have saved up a few quid by then, maybe enough to bribe Debbie with :0)

O guage yes may be You could convince Debie that a garden railway would be very beneficial for both of you to spend time in the garden. If the railway is quite low it fits into the garden better. I know I spend more time doing the chores in the garden like keeping the hedges short, grass short, fishpond free of algie, and the garden free of weeds. If you go O guage a Parkside Dundas O guage waggon Kit is easy to build and the closest thing to Engineering.
@WesternCenturion4 жыл бұрын
Thank you Andrew, I'll have a look those wagon kits, I like the idea of making them and not just buying assembled ones. I've got to cut the lawns now and try to find our neighbours ball
