I took the Amtrak many years ago from North Carolina up to Washington DC. Quite enjoyed the experience, but we hit a two hour delay due to a buckled rail and there seemed to be no avoiding route. In that time, I got to know the people in the same carriage pretty well. All very friendly and sociable.

@@sarahandwills we used to have direct rail service from Bethlehem,Pa to Philadelphia. Unfortunately the tracks were taken up and no passenger service exists now.We must now go to Ambler Pa for service. Pleased your Amtrak experience was good.

Grade 2 listed? Haha. It was wrecked in the early 1970s when 90% of its canopies were removed and many other peripheral original structures demolished.
