I have a preemie human baby and I have such a soft spot for Badger because he is a preemie! Developmental delays are extremely common in preemie babies - we measure his developmental progress by his adjusted age - the age he would be if he were born on his due date. Gastrointestinal issues are also common with human preemies because that is the last thing to really develop! If kittens are similar to humans in this way, it probably can explain some of his issues! :) Rooting for Badger, the Preemie Prince!!

Jocelyn, The goal of fostering is to get these kittens healthy enough to go to their forever homes. If she kept all the kittens that have passed through her care, she wouldn't be able to save more. Hannah's fantastic, and she'll make sure Badger goes on to a great forever home where his new person knows how to manage any of his health issues once he's old enough and healthy enough.

Perhaps folks unhappy this poor baby has had this struggle and that someone had an unfixed cat that ran into another unfixed one and was able to get pregnant. I didn’t dislike this video but I do have pretty strong feeling about intact companion animals in a country euthanizing millions each year. Rescuers, like her, are stepping up to address issues caused by irresponsible humans allowing intact cats and dogs. Hopefully, one day soon, the majority of neonate kittens that need her will be little babies like this one with uncommon medical situations; rather than healthy neonates.

It does take a certain mindset to foster, animal or human. Usually, you tell yourself you have a special skill set to get neonatal hot messes through the struggle to become adoptable. Then another baby is going to need you. For both you and this kitty, adoption is the goal. And then NEXT! And there is always another.

I don't think we give up. Many just cannot afford all these out of the ordinary testing. I live in Ontario Canada... You may get a small discount, but good luck finding a vet who will do this work for free or get enough donations to cover the hefty bills. We’re taking care of a baby squirrel. And I know... it’s “bad” and “you should let them be free” or “turn them into an animal shelter”, but the mom was killed because she was hit by a car after the neighbors cut down the tree they were living in. And she would’ve probably been euthanized if we ‘turned her in’. So for now, we are taking care of her. I’ve actually gotten some tips from your video, and done extensive amounts of research. We named her Sandy, and she’s now 6 weeks old. We’re not sure what her future looks like, but I can’t thank you enough for all the tips and stuff!

Me and my family are fostering 5 week old kittens! We have had them since they were 2.5 weeks old. Their are 4 of them. They are all girls. One is all grey, one is all grey but SUPER fluffy, one is mostly grey with white on the tummy, paws, and chin, and the last one has a mostly white tummy with white paws. They are SO cute!

I am truly thankful for your videos. I've rescued 7 neonates! Only 5 survived. Every day I struggle with guilt that I did something wrong. But I'm so overjoyed and flabbergasted that 5 survived! 3 were adopted into our own home and two bonded sisters went to a family that cherishes them as much as their human family. I honestly don't know if I could have done it without your videos. They have been a huge support and encouragement as well as wealth of knowledge. Our vet was even doubtful and I was so discouraged and angry!! No one should turn away anything fighting to survive. Life is precious.

Thank you! Because of your videos I went from a non-ringworm foster to a SUCCESSFUL ringworm foster within 3 days (plus Amazon prime delivery). I have so much carpet that I was disqualified as a ringworm foster. I'm a sucker for those code red euthanasia pleas. My five kittens had one litter mate that had the smallest spot of ringworm. Three weeks later, it's a full on outbreak. Also, calicivirus! 6 months later, I'm still getting amazing forever home stories about my fantastic 5 😻 Thank you for everything. Without your inspiration I'd probably have put them with another foster out of self doubt. All of their forever mommies/daddies can kiss them and give them raspberries on their tummies. They're all "raspberry tummy kitties" because I raised them with unconditional love. You helped me live my most fearless foster life. Thank you.

The Canadian feral rescue group called "Tiny Kittens HQ" recently had videos on the surgical treatment for a kitten that bit off a feeding tube. They found a surgical vet who had successfully operated on a ferret. The kitty's cleft palate had made tube feeding necessary until she was bigger. Aura is a gorgeous tux/calico with a repaired palate now.
