Is there any way to maybe do a class action against the federal government to have the requirements to become a police officer fixed? As in, 2 years law school training on top of continuing training throughout their time as an officer. Along with mandatory Brady list updates and at least be held to the same extent of the law as the people employing them. I have always been curious on these settlement payouts by the state/government. If someone gets a settlement do they still have to pay taxes on that money back to the state/government? I wouldn't think they should have to since it's from the state/government that accosted them and this money is restitution. He shouldn't have had this happend to him, and had the LEOs done the right thing, he would've gotten no money. We all would be happier if LEOs knew/followed the law, got rid of tyrants, and didn't force citizens to have to suffer through civil litigation. As it stands with LEOs bailed out by not facing any financial consequences, they have little to no incentive to change or take real responsibility. But then again, because you can't hear inflection and see body language to determine intent, it's quite possible your statement was sarcastic, in which case is pretty funny. I can't imagine his face had he been made responsible for such a large payment.
