Story 1: OP shouldn’t forgive the parents and the sister, period. They do not deserve forgiveness nor a “chance to make it right”. Hopefully the sister fails to become independent and leeches off of the parents indefinitely, ensuring they can never retire.

Story 1: I'm an RN, and my initial question is, your sister's nursing school degree cost how much? OP, move in with your grandparents, boyfriend or across the country and go to medical school. Your parents are who they are and there will not change. I lost dear old dad just days shy of my 28th birthday. Not once did he tell me he was proud of me or give his stamp of approval. My mother has been a little better.At 57, I've worked through it. Forgiveness means you let go of your right to pay them back. Story 2: Your brother CHOOSES to help you. His wife went behind his back, and it is his issue to address with his spouse. Not other members of the family. FYi: SIL apologized without apologizing.

Medical Student: I know that you don’t have much experience in this area, but you need to put yourself first. Don’t wait around for your parents’ approval. Move in with your grandparents and start living your best life😢 Story 2: You’re fortunate to have such supportive siblings. So, it’s okay for her husband to pay her brother’s rent, but not financially help out his own sister. Do as other commenters have suggested and tell your brother about his wife’s so called apology. He has a right to know the kind of woman that he’s married to😠
