I am s-l-o-w-l-y getting started in this game and as such I spend a lot of time looking over old and new information . I found your post today and I have to tell you the "tree stand" is a Super Cool way to set up the vertical filtering system. Those stands are generally cheap and can be found anywhere. The footprint is wide enough to prevent the filter from tipping over. Thank you for sharing this idea and thank you for the rest of the information you provided in this video. Looking forward to watching the other video's you have produced!!!

Hey Aaron, I'm kinda new to PCP air rifles. I work on high pressure air compressors and high pressure air dehydrators when at work. Some pointers I'd like to give you that will ensure the air you put in you bottles is dry.Air is like a sponge, when you squeeze a sponge the water falls out, when you compress it at some point in the compression the air reaches saturation, when that point is reached 3 things have collided " pressure " moisture content" and "saturation temperature". A simple thing you could do is install a back pressure valve set at lets say 4200 psi, have the valve installed as the last fitting before the air goes into a bottle of gun. In doing that when the air is squeezed to 4200 psi and then the back pressure valve drops it to what ever pressure you charge the bottle or gun to lets say 3500 psi that 700 psi drop expands the air causing a separation of saturation temperature and pressure, just like wringing out a sponge. The other thing I would do is the cylinder you have, the gold colored one, if you could wrap that with a wet cloth and blow a fan on it you will get a chilling effect like a swamp cooler and that will aid in condensing out moisture from the process air, if you could submerge it in ice water would be even better but I think that is a little extreme. Also what I would do, on the cooling water, I'd get some copper tubing maybe 1/4 inch of the soft refrigeration type and wrap it around the discharge pipes of the compressor (the ones that get hot) just coil it around the pipe. I'd then route the water returning into the bucket thru those copper tubing's and then into the bucket. The compressor will run cooler and you will get more water and oil out of the air.

I had never heard of compression aiding in dehydrating the air and Ice water ideas sound good. You have some great ideas on how to keep the compressor cool. Thanks for the information. Best of luck.

The water itself is not necessarily a problem in quality built guns (bigger problem with cheap metals). But the real issue, is the water freezing under pressure. It can destroy valves, etc. if the water freezes at high PSI ejection.

When mounting the filter is the charcoal at the top and the molecular sieve at the bottom
@aaroncantrell88194 жыл бұрын
I like to have it first go through the cotton then the molecular sieve and then the charcoal. However I have now taken out the charcoal because I was told that the charcoal is for diving. Now I put in double cotton first to make sure the oil is trapped and the Molecular sieve last to take out the water.. Thanks for watching.
@qg7866 жыл бұрын
I just installed a filter on my yong heng and replaced the molecular sieve that came with it 5-6mm, with some that is 0.5-1mm in diameter. It seems to work. Also I bought a hiking type water bottle that has a straw that goes right to the bottom. I drilled a hole near the top, where I attached a section of the straw to the inlet of the compressor using another fitting (not sure what the size is). I then filled the bottle with desiccant, so that the spout that is usually used to drink from, is forced to suck the air down the straw, through the desiccant, then through the original filter screw, through the cut section of straw and into the compressor. That way it reduces the amount of moisture going into the compressor itself.

I like the idea of attacking the moisture before it enters the compressor. I think I will look into that possibility. Thanks for watching.

So turn it on with the black knobs turned out and run a minute or two then tighten the black knobs. Depends on outside temp for worm up colder temps run more, hotter temps run less. Before turning it off depressurize (black knobs out) before shutting it down. I have had mine for 1 year.

Great and very informative videos. I’ve been watching several of your videos and I have purchased one of these Yong Heng Compressors for filling my HPA Tanks for paintball a couple weeks ago. Everything has been 100% on my end and I have the same system. No issues at all. Do you think the desiccant is unneeded or would it be okay to use both the desiccant beads and the molecular sieve beads together? I also may add one more Cotton Filter at the end of the big gold water filter, just to catch anything else that might pass through, for the last stage before the air goes to my tank. Would you say this is a good or bad idea? Appreciate your information and clear guidance. It helps us out a lot. I subscribed.
@aaroncantrell88195 жыл бұрын
Everyone is telling me that I should use the beads and cotton because that will take care of the water and oil that could be a problem. Hello Aaron, Question:: I have installed this same setup with just beads. I have a problem here. During fill-ups when the pressure gets to around 150 bars the compressor struggles and will not continue filling to my required 200 bars. My compressor does not have a auto pressure shut-off.. To me it seams as though the high pressure may be compressing the beads so tightly that the air flow is restricted (just a guess).After removing the filter everything returns to normal,. Have you had this problem or have you heard of this problem with this filter before?
@aaroncantrell88195 жыл бұрын
I have now heard of that problem before. The beads cannot compress as the air will travel around them. Try placing a cotton filter at the end of the filter as one of the beads could be clogging the outlet. I have cotton at both ends of my filter with the beads in the middle. I am glad to know that it is not the compressor itself. Thanks for watching and best of luck.

No offense, but I don't think you really understand how a desiccant like Molecular Seive or Silica Gel works. Both those materials actively absorb water and bind it until saturated, at which point it may as well not be there because it isn't going to absorb any more water. The only time you'll see liquid water is when the material cannot actively absorb any more so leaving the bottom end open to 'let it drain out' will not work - either the material is 100% saturated or (if not) it will continue absorbing water from the air until it is. It will not 'dry out' if left on its own, you have to use energy to drive off the water, such as heating to 350degC in an oven for 4-5 hours. Once dried it's good to go again. Molecular Seive is a bit more aggressive/faster than silica gel for absorbing water, and consequently requires more energy to force it to give up any water it has already absorbed. Don't ever leave it in an uncapped container for any length of time.
