Shame on the Local 3 News interviewer for allowing the officer's attorney to make her PSA. First, when an officer is placed on paid or unpaid leave regardless of the reason - they have their agency issued badge and weapon surrendered and a no-contact order is issued for the duration of the leave. This is standard protocol. This attorney gave an Oscar winning performance of officer victimhood. Second, my retirement group could give this attorney a good 1,000 documented cases where law enforcement lied on official reports and under oath. This is discounting KZbinr created content but news agencies taking time to compare body worn cameras against official reports, courtroom video, and even appeal hearing video. The likelihood an officer will ever face consequences for perjury of charges for submitting false reports is almost zero (0). Third, take a look at any Brady List to review the thousands upon thousands of officers proven to be untruthful or unreliable who are still working in law enforcement. So please, spare us the performance attorney commentary outside a court of law. (We can even show you where judges issued a not guilty for a defendant unless the DA pressed perjury charges against an officer found lying under oath during the trial - and the DA refused.)

They are not the ones who lied. They told the DA another cop was a liar and the chief is mad they told on the other cop.

I am shocked at how unaware all the folks in the comments are. These two are being punished by the corrupt cops. I guess folks just see a headline and make a million assumptions.

When officers are under investigation for potential criminal or civil misconduct, suspensions should be unpaid. Should a non-biased investigation clear them, back pay can be awarded.

I’m a commercial truck driver, and if I lie on my reports meaning my log book where I have to fill out daily I get fined for every infraction if I kill somebody because of my negligence, I go to jail point blank. I don’t have a accidental discharge. I thought that car was gonna kill me so I killed him so to say police officers are privileged is an understatement

It's terrible that telling the truth would cause you to "lose" your job/status. It's egregious and unacceptable when it happens in a police department.
@johnwalling55707 ай бұрын
So what this lawyer said and I don’t wanna miss quote. Her is when you get into the smaller departments when it comes to an eternal affairs investigation their buddies, their friends their coworkers do the investigation and it goes nowhere. What I’m confused about is they got on the stand, they swore oath to tell the truth whether they told the truth or not they’re suspended with pay so basically they’re on vacation but we don’t know if they’re telling the truth or they’re lying but let’s say they’re lying. Does that warrant suspension with paid leave, it makes no sense.

Perhaps WATCH the video in its entirety, and LISTEN to what's ACTUALLY happening. These 2 cops Jenkins and Elrod (The ones on the stand) spoke up AGAINST Sergeant Wright (another cop in the dept) after Wright lied During an official IA investigation. And Wright later admitted it to Sergeant Jenkins, That he lied. THESE 2 came forward and told the truth about wright lying, they were put on administrative leave, and eventually fired.

Happens to public employees in NYS also, even though NYS law specifically prohibits retaliation. One guy I know tried to report corruption in NYS government. His department's Office of Investigations deliberately outed him as a whistleblower, he got stripped of most of his duties, and he never got promoted after that. Oh, and after he gave his information, they made him sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) and then they dropped the whole thing like a hot potato.

That attorney said :"The officers knew they would be RETALIATED against...Almost immediately"...What? Holding them accountable is "retaliation"?. How many people's lives have they ruined before they were caught? Money buys you whatever you want, even new descriptions. You pay a lawyer and "accountability" becomes "retaliation", and "lies" are minimised with "untruthfulness".

If the police department - _your employer_ - takes away your badge and gun, you are *NOT* a cop anymore. Hence, you shouldn’t be paid while on any type of leave (suspended). It really should be that easy.
