The best time for you to get a re touch relaxer is about 6-8 weeks after your last relaxer or when you get about an inch or inch and a half of new growth. The reason why most people with relaxed hair have damage or breakage is because they wait too long to get a re touch. The reason why is because after you get a relaxer you have made a permanent chemical change to your hair. The relaxer has permanently changes the chemical bonds in your hair. Specifically the disulfide bond. Relaxer simply changes the shape of the disulfide bond. after some time your hair will grow and you will see virgin or "natural" hair. Now you have two different textures of hair "living" on your head. The natural hair has a completely different bond than relaxed hair so in simple terms where your last re touch and your newly grown hair meet is weak. Its like two people living in a house that don't like each other. Your natural hair will overtime kick the relaxed hair out of the house. This is the cause of a lot of shedding and breakage. Soooo I said all that to say it's important to keep up with your relaxing schedule. Don't ever not get your retouch because you don't feel like it or for any other reason. Because the more you don't feel like retouching your hair the more your hair will feel like breaking off. I hope I'm not coming off negatively. I just think it's important that lady's with relaxed hair know the importance of keeping up with the schedule of their hair.
@guacgirl7 жыл бұрын
Btrice Higgin you are absolutely corrrect. I must add that some people can get away with going longer between touch ups. having a bit more new growth to relax if you're hair is on the softer/fine side. I used to go 8 weeks usually, then in the winter about 10-12 maximum. I took great care to My hair all the time. I washed it every week or every two weeks and sat under the dryer with conditioner, including a reconstructor. I wrapped my hair wet and sat under the dryer, I would flat iron it once a week only. twice a week only for a special occasion. That was key for me. and I always got a trim ay relaxer time, by a professional ALWAYS. and NO chair hopping, find someone that cares about healthy hair and knows what they are doing. I had healthy relaxed hair. the relaxer is not bad! it is human error and misuse and not maintaining hair at home that causes most issues. I feel ticked when people blame the relaxer for all their issues
@faithblessed57987 жыл бұрын
Btrice Higgin you are so right because i go to salon n sometimes i go pass my relax schedule n my hair would get alot of new growth n very thick n grows also but i do see little piece of straight hair fallin while combing. Thats so so true. 🤗u didnt sound negative.

This makes me miss my relaxed hair and how simple it was to flat iron it . I flat ironed once every two weeks and relaxed every 6 weeks . All I had to do was wrap it at night and unwrap it in the morning and go . It was long about bra strap lenght and so healthy, boy i miss it so much I could cry :'(. But over the years it just got shorter and shorter , the ends were just so thin from the breakage I had to cut almost a half inch a month . I was forced to go natural but I can't complain I still love my thick hair
@angelwright72909 жыл бұрын
what made your hair come out if you dont mind me asking
@meseknowsbest31449 жыл бұрын
+Angel Wright It didn't come out, the chemicals from relaxers over the years made my ends weak and it keep breaking off. I'm sure my thyroid condition didn't help with my hair being so weak.

MeSe Knows Best oh okay my hair fell out 3 years ago when I was diagnosed with lupus. My hair fell out bcuz I was calling in yhe hospital for 3 months and I had a sew-in my hair. The weave matted up so bad and my real hair was so dry and brittle it fell out.

You can also get the wings on the side with the flat iron if you don't have a roller, what you do is flat iron that piece in the front roll the flat iron as if you were about to roll it, do it straight back then when your done just style it to the side :)
