Increase your shake dead zone until the wiggle goes away. Since your controller is registering with that wiggle, later portions of the game might be difficult without a replacement controller that doesn't have that wiggle.

Why did you map point to the left stick? doesnt that make you point and walk at the same time? Im also having trouble distinguishing between aiming and swinging. Whenever I try to aim i end up swinging my sword.

I mapped point to the left stick so that the right stick can be used for sword actions. Also, that would throw off how flying the loftwing works. For aiming, try slowly moving the right control stick. If you move the control stick too fast, then you'll swing your sword. You can adjust your deadzone in the shake wiimote section so that you don't swing your sword as much when slightly moving your right control stick.

Aiming with the bow is a struggle. Make sure to frequently recenter the pointer with the down button on the D-Pad.

@Rodrigo Lelis essentially your right stick just needs to go from left to right on the beat then right to left for the next beat. If you have a wobble on your right stick then this will be very difficult to pull off. You might have to map the horizontal shake movements to your mouse to get past that part. For my experience, I had the wobble and had to switch to a different PS4 controller that didn’t have the wobble to get past it.

No controller configuration will be easier or better than motion controls. That being said, it is fun as a novelty to play through the game with a controller, and I definitely had fun with most of the game playing without motion controls.

I've been try to get this to work with a game cune controller, but I can't get it to calibrate the remote. I works because I can press start and stuff and I van see and move the hand. I think the problem is when the stick for the pointer hand is not moved it doesn't"t sense any motion, since the hand does not appear. This should work with no motion. One trick I tried that worked for me was to plug in the controller after the game thinks the controller is calibrated, then you just have to press a.

My advice here would be increasing dead zone until it works for you, or assign your mouse to be the left and right swing. For me, I just had to switch to another PS4 controller that didn't have a wiggle in my right analog stick. Best of luck to you!

Definitely strange. I also started out using a 3rd party ps3 controller but had different issues with it, especially when I was trying to use it for PSP emulation. I ended up buying an OEM PS4 controller, and am so glad I did. It's compatible with pretty much all emulators out there, as well as a great option for pc gaming with a controller.

How were you able to defeat Tentalus? It is extremely hard to get a skyward strike to be accurately horizontal, but that wasn't horrible. The worst is trying to shoot the eye with a bow while being swung at. It is almost impossible to shoot.

My advice to you or any other viewer is to throw your skyward strike beam diagonally instead of horizontally at the tentacles, and to carry a few potions for the fight against the Tentalus's eye. Also, if you're going through the boss rush, pray that you don't face this guy there.

I can't get the game to do a sword thrust. I have it mapped to the right stick click just like you do. The Swing monitor on my PC even displays the exact same as yours when I click it (red center line along with a dark black line on top). However, the game never registers a sword thrust. Did you do anything special to make this work? (I am stuck in the sword tutorial)

@@crux64gaming The sword starts to kind of shimmy or vibrate (due to right stick click being mapped to both Shake-X and Swing Forward. I tried clearing the Shake-X, and now the sword vibrations stop, but still no thrust. I'm trying it with and without Z-targeting activated.

@Dustin Love Strange. Does your stick have any drift to it? Perhaps try mapping the shake-x and the swing forward to your square button? Maybe it’s just struggling with an analog button press.

@@crux64gaming Looks like I might have something wrong with Dolphin. I even tried mapping it to a keyboard button and can't get it to work. I've had a few other problems that tell me I probably need to upgrade. I'll try changing my version and see what happens.

What version of Dolphin are you using? If you haven’t already, download Dolphin 5.0.

Hmm.. Make sure you’re in the wiimote configuration and not the Gamecube controller configuration, and the last suggestion would be to reinstall Dolphin 5.0.

Tried this today and for the most part, the controls are great! My only real issue is when I'm walking normally, it seems like Link moves only slightly when I tilt the left stick all the way (unless I dash). Same thing with the right stick and using the skyward strike. If I push the right stick all the way up, the charge doesn't start. I have to be moving with the left stick at the same time for it to start charging. This tilt issue also made it hard to control the loftwing. Is this normal (at least with the walking and the skyward strike)? I've never played skyward sword before

Very strange. I’ll be honest that none of that happened to me, except for trouble with the Skyward strike. I recommend only trying the Skyward strike with the triangle button. As for the fix for you, you could play around with the dead zones to find a good fit for your controller.

Edit: we're good on the skyward strike. as for the movement (I'm assuming that I'd have to fix the dead zone in the nunchuck settings) lowering it to 0% from 9% didn't really make much of an improvement...

@@crux64gaming Hey sorry if I'm bothering you by asking again about controls, but I'm not sure if I understand the loftwing flying correctly. turning left+right +diving is fine. My problem is gaining height. The loftwing seems to stop in midair (from the game's view, I don't have enough speed to keep moving) so I have a hard time getting back up to skyloft from the ground because it places me so low in the clouds to begin with

Flying should be seamless. Are you gaining altitude by moving the right thumbstick? Traditionally when playing this on the Wii, you’d gain altitude with the Loftwing by swinging the Wiimote in an up-down motion (imitating a bird flapping its wings). Does this help?

I can't guarantee that any USB controller will work. A PS4 controller will work, and I've heard people use an xbox controller with similar results.

This is way too much work. Does Dolphin not offer any way to export controller profiles? If it does then you should just create a preconfigured profile and then link it from pastebin so we can try it out without having to spend an hour screwing around with all this tedious button mapping.

You might want to play with the dead zone settings for your controller to find a sweet spot for you so that you can swing when you want, but also aim without your sword coming out.

essentially your right stick just needs to go from left to right on the beat then right to left for the next beat. If you have a wobble on your right stick then this will be very difficult to pull off. You might have to map the horizontal shake movements to your mouse to get past that part. For my experience, I had the wobble and had to switch to a different PS4 controller that didn’t have the wobble to get past it.

something is way out of whack with your settings. in the game, when going into view mode it spazzes out and is uncontrollabe getting stuck in the corners and wobbling all over the place. I tested the controller in ds4windows, and both the left and right sticks stay centered with 0 drift. When i move the right stick right, it moves right..not right diagonally, not up. It stays centered when not moving. No idea. Your video does not match up with what you are saying. For instance "up is up, down is down" on screen it shows you setting down to up and up to down. (y- is down not up) You also have something called the z axis being set to the swing, but are telling us to set the swing with the right stick??? this is all very confusing. why do you not just have dual shock 4 in dolphin?? my dolphin displays dualshock 4 controls. don't have the default controls set to assume our controllers are wobbly. makes them wobbly. lol.

This part is really tricky. I might have to upload a video with how I did it, but you need to move the right thumbstick with the beat of the song. The saving grace here is that you can literally move the thumbstick all the way to opposite side (left to right or right to left). Make sure to hold in the direction you’ve moved the control stick and then at the beat, move the stick to the opposite side. Repeat this and you should have no problem. If your stick has a wobble, then you might need to assign the swinging motion to your mouse for this part.
