They really need to update their piano roll. I don’t know why they can’t make it similar to FL studio. Even panning is annoying on Maschine. You would think that they’d be able to simplify by now. Also I would really love to be able to record while muting group/sounds live.

Really love maschine but it is glaring how often Akai has updates or new products comparatively....... the feature that is missing that just drives me crazy is the serato sampler style ability to stretch/pitch chops. They have the tech with the audio module and manual time stretch in the sampler, I can't understand why they don't connect the dots and make it easier. At least let me chop up via audio module or something.... and then of course automation in maschine is notoriously mediocre. Another thing that I see many asking for, and seems like it should be an easy fix that is ignored. I have an mk3 and a plus, I'm a maschine head, but its still frustrating..... What are your thoughts on the newest merger? I hope its a sign of better software updates but worry its just going to lead to a mentality of fixing problems via plugin discounts over actually improving the products.

I’m not at all familiar with what Akai does as a company but many months between updates seems long. It’s interesting to see how praised Izotope plugins are yet they’re always on sale. Developing and maintaining software seems like such a grind especially in the audio space where there’s so much competition and as a consumer do we really need all theses Reverbs and Compressors etc…the first thing I thought NI would implement after their “merger” with Izotope was Plugin Compensation because without it it becomes very difficult to run multiple Izotope plugins in Maschine without some sort of latency and delay.

I would love to see product where the companies bring their different strengths to the table. Example NI for hardware. Izotope for AI and Plugin Alliance/Brainworx for their hardware emulation. A hybrid mixer, a keyboard, drum machine or audio interface with internal DSP similar to what Universal Audio has with their interfaces. I’m optimistic but I’m not holding my breath.

@@BarryDanielMusic Interesting ideas on the hardware.. I feel like there is some type of subscription based DAW coming a la studio One. With all those companies It would seem to make sense right? Generally speaking the biggest "I wish" for NI gear owners has been that the software can act as a true DAW, and it would make sense to partner with izotope and plugin alliance etc to realize that. We'll see. I'm with you though, high hopes but keeping my expectations tempered

So since updating, the only thing FL recognizes is AU, there’s an “error” for VST&VST3. When I try to open as AU I can’t adjust tempo so I need VST to come back. Any thoughts? Thanks

Hey Kiana. NI has had 2 minor updates since 2.15. I can’t remember what was on them specifically but hopefully these last two updates fixed whatever mess happened (cuz it was a mess for a lot of people).

I really like the MK3 but I am not a sure if the MPC X is the absolute best bet for hip hop. DJ Scratch said he produced, mixed, mastered and did all the scratches on the RZA's newest album on the MPC X.

@@BarryDanielMusic Akai seems to have better updates. And they’ve been doing the stand alone thing longer than NI. I’ve never even used an MPC of any kind so I could be completely wrong lol! I’m really wanting a stand alone unit and the MPC seems like it’s definitely the one to have in that domain over the Plus. But since the Plus is NI’s first stab at stand alone I’m hoping the next version will knock it out of the park because I really dig NI. I love my Maschine though and will keep using it since I’ve had it forever.

My maschine+ still has issues booting, it keeps crashing, and recovery mode just freezes the maschine and doesn't recover anything. I've had the maschine+ for 7 months and it's crashed every time I've used it.

Most if not all Native's plugins have been updated to VST3 also. But Maschine CAN NOT run 3rd party VST3 plugins yet. They said about a month ago that in 2022 they will work with 3rd party NKS supportive VST3 plugin companies to bring VST3 compatibility to Maschine. I just bought the Roland Cloud Juno-60 and Korg Opsix Native plugins and they won't run within Maschine yet cos' they are VST3 only, so i hope they get all 3rd party VST3 running quick because those two are my favorite synths right now :) These are from Native: "MASCHINE 2.15 can now run as VST3 plug-ins in DAWs that support this format." I don't know about you but i use all ove these pluggins especially izotope advance for mastering so this is really gonna take maschine to the next level as far as i'm concerned. @@nafe2481 It doesn't support 3rd party vst yet. The update description was a bit misleading. It meant that maschine vst itself can now be loaded as a vst3 in other daws. They will work on 3rd party vst3 support later this year.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t check the used market every so often for a MPC Live. How are you liking the workflow of the MPC?

@@BarryDanielMusic Honestly, the first time I turned it on, I fled. The next day I touched all the buttons etc to understand the thing. In 30 minutes I understood the workflow. And it's as fast as maschine. The only more maschine may be the arranger. But for hip hop, rap, trap beats, arrangements do not need to be complex. Mpc does more hardware than maschine anyway. You can really mix in it for example

@@nastied the ability to auo-time stretch chops and pitch shift them is a big one. Mpc came out with that about 3/4 months ago. Improvements to automation on the software, and the piano roll (both are things users have asked on for some time). For the plus, the fact that a 1400 dollar unit has all these basic stability issues and random glitches is a big problem. Don’t get me wrong here I love maschine I’ve just been underwhelmed by the lack of updates especially compared to their main competition akai… auto sampling is something akai has had for quite some time.

That's good though. Competition is important. Let's not pretend that Akai hasn't made changes that are direct rips of maschine or in response to things they have done too. For example the library browser workflows etc, Maschine changed the game with that and MPC "copied" or updated theirs to try and compete. Due to Kontakt I think Maschine still has the edge there but either way point stays the same.

@@BarryDanielMusic i have both eco systems and i literally use the maschine as an audio interface because i’d rather use the mpc for anything creative, and ill admit, i started with native instruments and maschine.. mpc had a massive learning curve with hidden menus and buttons doing shit unlabelled, but once i started to dig in and sometimes refer to user manual, i can’t look back, a daw seems too different for me to comprehend now, what mpc has is literally perfection in ever sense of the word for me… me… and i think most have to understand both have different flows and limitations, but i’d rather use the native instruments sounds in mpc software or stand-alone vs using maschine hardware.. the mk3 is pretty nice and it definitely compares but the flow on the mpc is what works for me, plus i hate the maschine pads, i have heard others say they’re so much softer and nicer than mpc but idk if i just got a bad one but even with softest velocity i feel like i might as well be banging in pots and pans with my fingers

@@nickgilday8946 just different flow, different strokes for different folks, but i can point out maschine review fanboys who will shit on the mpc one for its volume knob position, which is in the exact same spot as maschine, sadly if you’re doing research it’s a hard call to make, as it’s sooo much personal preference, in idk how many years of rhythm roulette i’ve seen i think 9th wonder chopping on a maschine, while 90% of rest use an mpc of some sorts, does 9th wonder make worse music? fuck nooo that’s the flow that works best for him, while akai has 40? years of experience making the mpc? through the evolution of technology… my 2018 macbook is so bad i can’t dj and run maschine at same time amazingly so i bought the stand alone mpc and haven’t touched the macbook or the maschine since haha
