I came back to this video. I was initially against using Rogaine because the thought of using it for life got to me. But my dermatologist explained to me well what about all the other things you use for the rest of your life👀 she did such a thorough evaluation and I definitely will use it. I am glad you mentioned using at night. I will definitely do that so I can try and do something during the day. I’m 46 and I have my one and done daughter so no other kids are in the work. Thank you. Thanks so much for posting this update. I've dealt with hair loss for 4 years. I've tried every oil, lotion and potion without results. Two different dermatologists encouraged me to try Minoxidil. I was reluctant to but finally decided to give it a try. I just started 1 week ago so we'll see how it goes.

@@blessedone_butterfly I definitely see a difference in the temples. Fine baby hairs are growing in. My nape area is the worst. I can't notice a major difference back there yet. Hair loss in that area could be related to an autoimmune disorder. I use the 2% topical but I've been using it once a day as opposed to twice a day. Side effects are water weight gain and headaches. I don't think I'll ever be able to tolerate using it twice a day because my blood pressure already runs low. I'm told I've got to give it 6 months to really see a difference so I'll stick with it. Did you have headaches and gain weight initially? Thanks for asking.

@@Roads_in_Autumn Yes I am. At first I used the 2%. That was a waste of time. I switched to the 5% foam and that made a big difference but it took about 12 months for me to see regrowth. During that time I saw a dermatologist that did a scalp biopsy on me. She determined I had some fibrosis and treated it with scalp steroid injections. I received 2 rounds of injections and decided not to get anymore because the last round was irritating. Anyway, long story short, I've recovered from the issue. I also found a stylist that was able to give me a cut that blended my hair well. I ended up loving the cut and the look. I've been rocking it ever since.

I’m 56 years old and lost my hairline at the temples. I’ve been using minoxidil and am seeing some improvement but it’s slow. The new hair is very fine and fragile. I’ve been babying it with lots of moisturizer and scalp massages. I did have dry hair and an incredibly itchy scalp. My dermatologist suggested nizoral shampoo and the itching stopped. I’m hoping it will get more growth with the next 4 months.

Hello! I am inspired by your experience. I am about to embark on my second time with rogaine, but doing a little research on african american use experience. I know it works but stopped earlier this year due to a very scary one time occurence of vertigo (a known side effect). Of course the hair loss came back. So I recently had a scalp biopsy and bloodwork to rule out any illness. Thankfully it's just typical aging hair loss and I was asked to try minoxidil again. I had planned to try every other day application and I love your night time application tip. Additionally I'm wondering if my hair products hold the minoxill onto my scalp longer. All this said, I am curious if you ever experienced vertigo over your years of use? If not, would you mind sharing why the change from daily use to 2x per week? Thank you so much 🙂

You would notice a lot of hair fall when you start using minoxidil. It is normal and expected. This is because the old follicles are being pushed out to allow the growth of new and stronger ones. Advice is keep using it and don't give up. At least try for a year and let's see how it goes. I would start mine soon and of course I am all mentally prepared for that dreaded hair fall. So long as it leads to better and stronger follicles which leads to a fuller head of healthy hair, it should be worth it.

I don't have relaxed hair but I would NOT use it on relaxer day since they both are chemicals. If you have are having hair loss woes, relaxers may not be helping you regrow your hair.

I turn 55 in a few days and this "cow lick" baldness is going to get hit with 10% of minoxidil that the dermatologist prescribed for me. I have had it since May of this year and just opened the bottle today; because I was listening to the voice that said you are going to have to use it forever. Yes, the laser treatments improved my hair thickness and strength. Yes, my cosmetic surgeon recommended. No wild miraculous growth BUT a definite improvement. There are many on the market now much lower priced that are good.

I've been doing rice water since Oct 2020. I've had about 3 inches of growth, which I believe is normal BUT I definitely have Less breakage when I comb my hair. Also, I like that you pray... Do a lifestyle video on prayer and meditation... maybe you and your sis can discuss this topic..

@lasonya I've had success with rice water growing my hair but it didn't grow NEW hair in my thinner areas..it just helped my hair grow faster. My thin areas were still thin.. Did you notice thin areas growing with rice water (if you have thin areas)

No. Minoxidil lowers your blood pressure which can make you feel tired or like you’re going to faint. Minoxidil also causes your face to puff up and look old. True story: I took it for two years and couldnt figure out why I was aging. Stopped for 4 months and I’m now being told how much younger and thinner my face looks on a weekly basis. My hair shed for a little bit but then grew back in just fine. Looks almost just as thick. BE CAREFUL

You mentioned that you also use a “laser cap”. Have you always used the cap along with the minoxidil for the 4 year period? Which actually caused the hair growth? Thanks!

I have not used a laser cap for 4 years. I only used it for 2 years consistently. It does work well with minoxidil. The laser cap worked best to thicken my hair. I used them together so I can't truthfully answer if one is better for hair growth.
