A few corrections/clarifications/additional details: - The Wishlist I mentioned was for Safehouse Customization, not the game in general. The wishlist will be posted AFTER the launch of the safehouse feature. - You can fix the Mountaineer's Hut roof and this INCREASES the indoor temperature. - Decorative items do have weight, they just will be in a different backpack tab to not take up space. Sorry, this was poorly formulated. - The workbenches you can build are, possibly, Furniture Workbenches and not the regular ones. I assume, though, that they work like regular workbenches + allows for furniture crafting. Crafting furniture requires Woodworking Tools, found in the world. Raph does refer to "Crafting Workbenches" and making new ones, so it's possible we are talking about two types of workbenches here, and that both can be crafted. - Raph did reply to my question on the forums, and said the timberwolves pattern also applies to deer... but that had always been the case. Huh, learned something new.

Hey, Zak. You might have heard of me, The Quonset Manager. I've been meaning to get back into TLD videos, but my graphics card cooling system just died. There is no way I could record a video that doesn't look like it was powered by a potato battery. After the update and I have some time to test some theories on the cougar, would you mind if I send you my analysis of the best bases in the game? Then you can use my notes to make a video. I found your ranked regions video a bit lacking in the hard core mathematics department. You missed some of the finer details and rather than just argue the point, I figured it'd make more sense to just send it to you, then you can do an update after reviewing my arguments. I'd prefer it was peer reviewed anyways. If yer interested, let me know, and I'll send you a summary to your email.

With no sarcasm whatsoever: Post-apocalyptic fantasies are mostly about safehouse customization. It’s about looking at the big house up on the hill and thinking what you would do with it, if you were the last human left on the continent.
@DarkSeresutiaАй бұрын
tbh i thought there is something wrong with those devs, now i have a proof: them thinking the essential content of a survival game can be added after 10 years is not normal behaviour of a developer
@CleoHarperReturnsАй бұрын
Agreed. Adding to that, I feel that most post-apocalyptic media is so desirable because the world changed so suddenly with the tech explosion. It started to move so fast and got so complicated that we all became (and stayed) overwhelmed. Stunned and paralyzed, subconsciously. Low key, we all want to press the big reset button and level the playing field. As individuals we feel more worthless than ever before. Evolution is uncomfortable; it's the storm that spawns apocalypses. It causes megalomaniacs to press those buttons where the rest of us play video games and get over ourselves. Strap in and start decorating, everyone!
@chronque9270Ай бұрын
@@DarkSeresutiaI disagree in the sense that a lot of the enjoyment from TLD comes from barely surviving against the full force of an indifferent and brutal Mother Nature, rather than "conquering" it and leaving your own big mark. They both have a place, and I'm looking forward to the customisation, but I think it's very incorrect to say the devs are foolish.
@Racc-Kun_YTАй бұрын
@@chronque9270Agreed, the main "enemy" in TLD is very different from what is found in most post apocalyptic survivals games. I'm excited for the customization but it adds nothing to the game outside of coziness(which is already very present with the current loot system imo) whereas building systems in most survival games are a necessity due to zombies, players or whatever creatures the game centers around.

Now that we have potatoes and carrots, and things to cook with them in the game, it would be nice if you could make planter boxes for them that you would have to water once in a while and then get more ingredients from them. Ranger's stew is a great source of vitamin C for when you can't or don't want to fish all the time for your food, and it gives you a reason to hunt rabbits and deer for their meat, and not just pelts and guts. There's also another dish made with carrots, but it uses canned corn that you can only find in the special bunkers, as far as I know, making it even more scarce than carrots alone. And then, maybe you can get some other interesting seeds from the trader to use in the planter boxes, both decorative and otherwise. Having to water your plants would really drive your sense of attachment to your base :D

Right now it is so cluttered I usually avoid it as a base for aesthetic purposes. 2. Mountaineers hut in TWM - Fantastic base with lots of nearby resources, I love the rugged look and location but also nice and cozy, additionally easy to navigate in the dark. 3. I’m honestly really psyched about making the Community Center in Pleasant Valley my safehouse location. I prefer it to Quonset due to the amount of natural light, and it has the fireplace in addition to the 6-slot oven. It really is about the light tho - I can’t stand running a lantern during the day if I can help it, and Quonset is *just* dark enough to annoy me. The only downside to the community center was no workbench, but given that I’ll be able to remendy that… I think the space will work really nicely for decoration and overall utility. edit: I’m also holding out hope that the root cellar box thingy in the basement of Pleasant Valley Farmhouse will be craftable/moveable. I want to store all my potatoes and carrots in it closer to a kitchen space. (yes I know the whole idea is that they’re in the basement - but still)

Don't have the game yet, but my dream base locations (with strategies aside) would be one of these: Cabin in Mystery Lake, a-frame on Timberwolf mountain, or the fire lookout (forgot location). Honestly, the entire game is beautiful and I wouldn't mind building a base anywhere. Can't wait to play it for myself. i kinda wished some of the feats were more useful, some of them are useless while others (darkwalker) are just a debuff. if i were able to give feed back for an update for the feats these are what id change. 1. darkwalker: while being useful for endless night its just a nerf to you in any normal playthrough as theres more daylight then night time, the extra fatigue loss at day messes with crafting times that require light. this makes it pretty useless seeing as id want to not get tired while im crafting not when im gonna sleep to pass time. My change to darkwalker would be: actions that require light, no longer require light. this would make it really useful during endless night runs and fairly useful during normal runs. as we all know the only thing to do at night is sleep so you can actually do stuff at day time, this change would make cabin fever less of a problem as you would be able to craft something that would normally take 3 days (12 hour intervals) to something around 1 and a half days given the amount of food or water you have on hand. i have more ideas but nobody will want to read a book in a comment. lmk your feat change ideas if you want.

the main thing I want in the game is passive snow melting, threw out the game you find buckets, so why can't you fill them with snow and leave them in your base, like if your at farm house in PV and you have both the fire place and the stove going at the same time the indoor temp can get up to 127f or 50 plus c, any snow should melt in those temps. and most bases are above freezing so the water shouldn't freeze, and all we would have to do is collect the dirty water and bring it to the stove to boil, because if each of the metal pails are lets say 3 to 5 gallons, we could keep adding snow until they are fully filled, and we have lets say 5 or 6 six of metel pails that would be 15/25 to 18/36 gallons of dirty water just store in the base and if we have the purifying tablets, we would be able to have a way to get clean water in an emergacy, lol its the little things that make me go mhh we should be able to do so but no

I hope you can add six-burner stoves. Only thing I’m missing in my primary base right now

I'm shivering my Timbers (wolves). But maybe this will help me face my fears, and if there is a chance of them not spawning then whew! But please God, the Bearded God of Hinterland, not Mystery Lake😢

I really want them to update the custom settings. That's something I'm so excited about lol I'm hoping it will be clearer what the options mean and a few new ones too. I can't wait to set up a safe house though, that seems like it was a huge undertaking for them so I intend to make full use of it. Also the Timberwolves thing sounds pretty cool. I usually turn them off on custom games when I want a more chill experience but to make up for that I make the regular wolves harder to break away from once they get ahold of you. Stuff like that is so fun in custom settings. Want more loot? Do that! But make blizzards happen more often. If you give yourself a leg up, also give yourself a handicap. It's a fun play style for me!

So i would suspect that Timberwolves may use existing Black Wolf Pack spawns. Basically anywhere you tend to see 3-4 black wolves together.

Miner's Folly as a base camp for total isolation and being high up in the region. Not the most strategic but just to enjoy the solitude.
@marygatdula2744Ай бұрын
I don't mean this to be sarcastic, but are YOU being sarcastic? Maybe it's just me, but it feels like the whole game is totally secluded! So much so that I sometimes wish they would add a dog or allow us to train a wolf! LOL
@CakeorDeath420Ай бұрын
@@marygatdula2744 Not being sarcastic at all. To each their own. Even though the whole game is about the isolation and solitude, being higher up in the mountains brings a different level of peace and quiet. Except for that one bear, there is nothing else around. I personally love mountains and hike up every chance I get.

Maybe a coastal highway house, I'm not sure… I definitely will tidy up the camp office, but what to do? I'm not looking forward to the wildlife adjustment, but maybe it won't be so awful with the travois…

I'm excited about the permanent store. I love this game, I want merch from this game especially some coffee cups. Also most of all, as a Canadian, I want to support a Canadian company that has made such an incredible world set in Canada

Thanks for the video Zak :D I love Mountaineers Hut and I think it will still win as my dream base to customise. It may be too small for my interior decor ambition though... I have to think about it 😂

Wish list.. I want to have the ability to befriend a wolf. Helping you catch small pray like rabbits, protect you or alert you to danger. Very excited about this update! Thank you for the campfire chat.

The PV barn south of the birch forest with the truck inside, I'll finally have a good setup for that, now that I can make a workbench. I'll happily use it as a main base. I don't care if ot doesn't have a 6 stove top.

That would be cool if we could make a hay bed from hay bales

Thanks Zak, Timbers guarding Angler´s Den on Spawn, ouch 😨. Still no comment on The Hunted Part 3. Wonder if the "To be continued..." will disappear instead?

Honestly if I can I will probably trick out a cave. I spent a good 50 some days living in the cave in Milton basin on stalker. I usually play interloper however, and on interloper its way less viable because you have to travel so far for a workbench. If I could craft a workbench and a proper bed in that cave I would be set on interloper. I love that area, its so easy to hunt, and you have a birch forest right there for wood and birch bark. Its also pretty close to forge, and you can cure pelts in the cave. Only real downside is no workbench unless you climb 2 ropes or go to the muskeg.
