Kids imitate what they see. What was the gun doing out where a kid gets it. This is parents fault. My kid cannot get my gun. It's locked up. Where this gun used in the shooting should have been.

I’ve been an elementary teacher for 28 years. About 16 years ago, when I taught first grade, I sent a disruptive student to time out in my coworker’s room. While he was there, he told another student in that class that he was going to bring a gun to school and shoot all of the teachers. After hearing about this, I reported him to admin. He lied and told admin that he said that he was going to shoot himself. He was then placed on suicide watch, and his statement about shooting all of the teachers was completely disregarded. I understand that admin had to take what he said about shooting himself into account, but I never understood why what he said about shooting the teachers was never addressed. I felt wronged and uncared for. This story validates my feelings.

@@myalias2812 I did. All of it was hearsay. My point was that admin could have at least showed that they cared about the teachers’ well being as well as the student’s. If the child didn’t say that he was going to shoot the teacher, I would have expected him to just say that he didn’t say it. The fact that he admitted to the gun part let’s me know that he said something about a gun which is concerning.

Thank God the teacher is going to be okay, we never want anyone to be shot or hurt in any way. However, I would be very concerned about the child psychologist they provide. Great way to brainwash and program them at a young age. We know now how many teachers, principals, coaches & aides are deliberately harming our kids.

Situations as such should’ve never happened. The USA must put new regulations concerning accessibility of firearms. It makes no sense where a kid can steal a gun that easily from his parents

A new law ain’t gonna do anything to stop that unless you can get everybody on board to relinquish their rights to privacy and allow the government to occupy each of their homes… This is the fault of ignorant parents.. not the fact that guns exist. Many of my friends and I all grew up with guns in our homes, easily accessible in case of emergency.. The big difference was, we all were raised to respect them as tools, and had parents that helped us understand violence is only acceptable in self defense, not an acceptable reaction to frustration or offense. That specific school has metal detectors and didn’t use them, rather they randomly pick students to search occasionally. This is not the fault of a lack of law, this is not the fault of a gun, this is the fault of lazy parents and a lazy school “safety team”🙄 Edit: by the way, there are already laws on the books requiring firearm lockups in separate lockers from the ammunition and a whole load of other garbage concerning having minors in the home.. those laws did nothing in this case because the fault still lies with the parents being ignorant, and the school being lazy not using a detection system they had the ability to use

The school has metal detectors they need to be used. So far I have heard nothing from the childs father.
