I have that same snail catcher. Works pretty good. I don't mind the pond snails in the tank, but I sometimes overfeed the guppies when they are in the midst of breeding, so I get a few too many snails.

So glad to see the Vienna Guppies are thriving in your tank. If they continue to breed well for you hopefully you will have enough to sell on your website to spread them to other hobbyists. Not sure why you don't have any plant or moss in the blue velvet shrimp tank. I have MTS and ram horn in my shrimp tank and the shrimp population still explodes. My tank is filled with moss and floating plants. I feel that when the shrimp foods, especially any powder type, get caught by the moss or the roots of the floating plants, the snail can't really get there so the shrimps have a monopoly over those foods.

I've been using the breeding box (with hornwort) method for my guppies with great success. I put a female in, let her drop, let the fry grow for 2 weeks in the box, then move the fry to the main tank. I clean out the box and then put another female in that's close to dropping. So I get new fry into the main tank about every 2 weeks. That seems to be working well. I definitely have found a 50% or better improvement in fry survival using the breeder box method. I was averaging about 8 fry per batch found in the main tank. Now I'm averaging 15-18 fry in the breeder box. And at 2 weeks old the fry and big enough and fast enough to evade the adults and juveniles that might try to eat them.

How big is your room? Mine is 15×9 fr part of the room and 15x12 for the other part. I have 36 tanks in the room. Just loving your space. My dad said, "Dang now when you get a bigger room, you do that." I love my room, but to have a room like yours would be phenomenal!

The SERA snail trap would probably be perfect to get the pond snails. The shrimp might not be able to get in the trap. After that, the eggs are easy to spot and you could probably squish em!

Strange question - but have you bred guppies & shrimp for profit? I’m thinking of getting in it with a 5 G & 10 G may get a 40 for the guppies. Focusing on pandas & or dumbos if I go the guppy route. For shrimp I’m thinking of high grade red cherries, pumpkins or blue dreams. There aren’t many people where I’m at that sell shrimp. Since I got the 5 & 10 right now just might go with shrimp, but I don’t know if’s even worth it and or will make me a decent profit. Someone I know pulls $100 weekly for his shrimp where he’s at.

Question My blue Gourami has been guarding a bubble nest for the last week. I just scooped up the nest with a Tupperware. I have about 50 tiny fry darting around and I don't have brine shrimp. Can they survive on ground up flake food.? What can I feed them? 🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟👍😮🤪
