As a former host dad I can tell you that all the feelings you are experiencing are normal. Everything your leaving behind you will be returning to before you know it. Your exchange year will go by fast so experience as much as you can. I don’t have to tell you that student exchange is a once in a life time opportunity that some can only dream about. I can’t stress enough the best and fastest way to make friends is to get involved in school activities! Sports, clubs, plays, cheerleading etc. Whatever your interests are almost all American schools offer student extra curricular activities for almost any interest. Basically do as much as you can in and out of school. Enjoy all the uniquely American holidays and endless activities such as Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Homecoming, prom, football games. If you have the opportunity travel and see as much as you can. There is no shortage of things to do and see no matter where your host state may be. Don’t be shy, you will find most American students and adults are outgoing and friendly. All the best to you in 2021 2022 🇺🇸

Im also going on exchange year this year!! I feel soo weird, but Im also SO SO EXCITED! Have a great year!❤️

Don't be nervous, you will fit in perfectly, Floridians are no different than you but expect diversity( people won't even know you're an exchange student by your looks, they might even think you're a Cuban American) Good luck, can't wait to see the new you at the end of the program.

Welcome to Florida! Go Gators! You're in a nice area (in terms of the weather; it's not as hot as South Florida.) You're not far from the Gulf beaches, and not too far from Orlando. Have a great year!!!
