Thanks, man, was so concerned for the area. Great survey. Hope insurers honor their agreements for those in need. I'm going to come live in New Mexico - and your videos have been a straight up Education. Thanks for the commentary on the 20 plus mile run.

They’re probably exhausted, Rusty. Having to tell people who just want to see about their homes, their animals, that they cannot go through has taken its toll. Still praying for the people of Ruidoso, Alto, and Mescalero. I cannot even imagine. Thank you for the info! Stay safe!

And those that last ve there. May the rain be as it will not cause nothing but shutting off that fire. Hugs and love to all there. And to you my friend. Angela NIC

There were 1,400 structures burned, two people died, and a little over 7,000 acres were torched. They still don’t know the cause of the fire. Rusty, right where you turned onto road Cedar Creek to go into the Forest Rangers parking lot, that road goes back into a canyon and my dearest friends family get away cabin is back there. I’m glad to see that the fires didn’t come in to that part of Ruidoso! I haven’t been up there in years. Thank you Rusty for taking us on your drive. I dearly love Ruidosa and Cloudcroft. My Mother use the live in Alamogordo until she passed. So I enjoy your drives through New Mexico.
@yousogrouchy77937 ай бұрын
Last estimate was 1700 structures and between the 2 fires over 25,000 acres. I know of at least 3 lives lost. They've brought in cadaver dogs to search for missing people.

The Swiss chalet that you drove by is where a revered member of the community lost his life. He was waiting for a ride out of town. His friend couldn't get through and all communications were down so he didn't know his friend wasn't going to make it to get him out. Very sad.

Thanks for the update Rusty. Often fire can skip places. Wind blown embers. The first day of a large wildfire, can be very confusing. This fire was no different.
@sarahrose41267 ай бұрын
This was not a wildfire. Go back and look at all the pictures of the devastation. It's not normal damage for a " wildfire ". Theyve already shown images of trees burning from the inside ( not the outside ). That sort of tree damage can only occur with technological accelerants.

Unless you have been to Ruidoso, Alto, Nogal those mountain drives are much steeper than People realize. I pulled a truck with a car attached with a maximum speed of 26 miles an hour I truly thought it was going to stop on the hill. That speed was with me weaving back and forth on the mountain.
@pauls90827 ай бұрын
I think it was two summers ago you drove through Ruidoso, and half of the traffic signals weren’t working because of power loss due to a forest fire. Seems like that area burns pretty regularly?

@sarahrose41267 ай бұрын
Government officials are " rude " when engaging in massive cover ups. I personally experienced such " rudeness " when trying to film parts of Lahaina that all homeowners had already been Through their rubble and there was literally nothing to steal anyways. I only wanted some on foot footage of the Lahaina damage and they treated me like I was some kind of ISIS terrorist.

"I don't know what the problem is, why they (the officers) are so rude." The problem Rusty is that looters and sight seers like yourself are making their job more difficult. The resources in the Ruidoso area (food, water, power, communications) are stretched beyond their limits. Even residents such as myself are strongly advised not to return until some sort of normalcy is restored. The last thing needed there right now is for rubber neckers to complicate the efforts of officials to restore the communities. That's the problem.

Yesterday after the fires they showed hail. Okay, Fire and hail. New Mexico is losing police like many cities due to crime.
@aikanae17 ай бұрын
They kept Ruidoso locked down due to recovery efforts since people were still reported missing. The fire was lightening caused and spread by the wind carrying embers up to a mile away. Thats why you have areas skipped.
@yousogrouchy77937 ай бұрын
Trees can be hit and smolder for days. Wind can come along and fan the flames.
@DesertRatGardener7 ай бұрын
You're right on all except the FBI is investigating the fire cause, as no determination has been made about cause yet. The Sheriff said yesterday that all burned structures are treated as a crime scene now.

At 9:00 minutes , Rusty says excitedly , " I cant believe i got through ! Nobodys chasing me... Yet " 😂 " Yet's " the key word Rusty. Ive been chased in Lahaina by National Guard for the " crime " 🤦♀️ of filming strange " fire " damage from the street. Trying to explain the US Constitution " to a man armed with a semi automatic and " orders " from " superiors " proved pointless so I learned how to hide underneath propane tanks ( The large ones all survived completely intact unlike the homes they are inches from ) and run like Forest Gump . 😅
