Update: Siemens EQ 500 Brewing Unit Stuck

In this video, I attempt to understand why the brewing unit of the Siemens EQ.500 frequently jams, leading to a misalignment of the drive. For comparison, I examine a brewing unit from the identical Bosch coffee machine, which does not exhibit this issue. I did this fix to mine as well. Now a day after the gearbox is misaligned once again… I also don’t get any froth when making milk coffees, just lukewarm milk. I’m moving from an old DeLonghi Magnifica cappuccino which i haven’t had any issues with after making 6000 cups of coffees. If this is just the quality of the Siemens machines, i’d rather use my old DeLonghi…

Hmm, rozebrałem cały zaparzacz i nasmarowałem. Wszystko działa płynnie jak sprawdzałem, tylko jest jeden problem. Pękła sprężynka/drucik do zgarniacza fusów. Jak zaparzyłem kawę to wysłała się gorąca woda do kubka, a świeżo zmielona kawa została w pojemniczku na resztkę wody. Czy to wina tej właśnie pękniętej sprężynki ???

Sprężynka, jak już sam zauważyłeś jest tylko poto by zgarniać fusy. Sprawdź najlepiej skąd leci woda przy otwartych drzwiczkach, wtedy zauważysz co jest nie tak. Aby to zrobić musisz uruchomić przełącznik który odpowiedzialny jest za domknięcie drzwiczek. Hey, erstmal vielen Dank für die super Videos. Ich habe meine Maschine zu einem Techniker gebracht, nachdem sich der Antrieb der Brüheinheit nicht mehr bewegt hat. Der Antrieb soll laut Techniker für 290€ getauscht werden können. Habe das Teil im Internet für 150€ gefunden. Ist es möglich den Antrieb selbst zu tauschen, lohnt sich eine so teure Reparatur oder sollte man deiner Meinung nach ein neues Gerät kaufen? Danke im Voraus.

Hi, das Tauschen des Antriebes ist nicht sonderlich kompliziert allerdings es gibt keine Garantie wie lange das er hält. Wenn's blöd läuft dann ist er im halben Jahr wieder defekt. Gleichzeitig sollte die Brühgruppe revidiert werden, da diese die Hauptursache für den Fehler ist. Für handwerklich affine Menschen gibt es mittlerweile für Siemens EQ500 Reparatursätze die langfristig alle Probleme beheben sollen. Yes, the brew group cannot be removed if the gears of the drive skip.

Niestety problem nie tkwi w tym elemencie że sprężynką, wyjęcie go niczego nie zmienia. Wg mnie przyczyna tkwi w zużyciu, calego zaparzacza, wytarty gwint itd. Ciekawe jak działa calkiem nowy zaparzacz. Czy chodzi płynnie wszystko i sie nie zacina.

Na ten temat jest dużo teorii niestety nikt nie wie naprawdę o co tutaj chodzi. Myślę że nawet w Siemensie nie potrafią rozwiązać tego problemu. Zużycie zaparzacza jednak bym wykluczył dlatego że zastosowane tworzywa sztuczne są bardzo odporne na ścieranie itd. Problemem jest moim zdaniem sama konstrukcja tego elementu i za słaba przekładnia w eq500. Puki co moja modyfikacja nadal funkcjonuje pytanie jest tylko jak długo?!

@@yt.myworks rzeczywiście materiały zaparzacza wydają się mocne i błędnie oceniłem pisząc ten komentarz. Jednak po nasmarowaniu i mimo, że elementy zaparzacza działały leciutko, bez żadnych oporów to przekładnia i tak przeskakuje. Dziwne to jest bo zęby nie są widocznie wytarte, nie wykazuje luzów nadmiernych a jednak zawodzi. Nie widziałem sensu kupować nowej przekładni po przeczytaniu wszystkiego co znalazłem na forach i w komentarzach pod kilkoma filmami na KZbin, włączając w to te pochodzące z Niemiec i Rosji. Części są drogie, wymiana ich nie gwarantuje sukcesu. Pierwszy raz poddałem się i oddałem ekspres klientce nienaprawiony. Może faktycznie dopiero wymiana firmware i przekładni na nowe coś by dało. Podobno serwisy Siemensa wymieniały całe moduły a nawet całe urządzenia wydawali klientom nowe. Jakiś niefortunny ten model albo cała seria tych ekspresów. A szkoda bo konstrukcja wydawało się pomysłowa i solidna. Dziękuję za super robotę na KZbin i pomocne materiały. Pozdrawiam serdecznie!

Hi this is an excellent video thank you. I have a new EQ300 Siemens and although its working I have quite a lot of fresh and dry grounds in the drip tray after making a coffee. Hello, you first have to check that the grind is not too fine. In this case, it can happen that the water is not completely pressed through the coffee grounds. Have you adjusted something on the grinder at the top of the coffee bean container?

Hi I know this problem, it's because the water tank didn't fit properly. Try to pull it back and check that small round stone type object and it's cover inside the tank and refill it and put it back in the socket by pushing it downwards. And once the error goes away, try not to take out the water tank everyday. Fill it with some water jug, bottle, or a pan.

My brewing unit is leaking water into small waste coffee box/container. Previously it only used to drop partially dry round shaped coffee waste but now it also fills with water and very difficult to clean. First I need to use filter to stain the coffee so I could avoid draining into kitchen drainage. Can someone help me in resolving this issue? New brewing unit is 110€.

It is also important that there is a right amount of coffee powder in the brewing group, otherwise the coffee cannot be pressed properly and then everything ends up in the waste container with water.

​@@yt.myworks Thanks for replying, I have cleaned the brewing unit thoroughly and issue still persists. But I have figured out the place from where water is dipping in the coffee waste container. If you pause your video at 03:39 you see there's a metal filter with a screw in the middle, The water dips from here after the coffee is made. I have tighten the scree as well but it didn't help, is it because of old orange rubber ring which I never replaced? The water should only drop in the dip tray not in the box where coffee waste is dropped.

Inner spring looks better visually. This is a more elegant solution. Since only hot water flows through the hose (no coffee), nothing should happen.

I understand that, but I don't think it will harm the hose, although long term testing will show it. I will report here if there are any problems. However, many coffee machines have internal springs installed. I think the hose will last longer than without it ;-)

HI, wir hatten mal in den Kommentaren in deinen vorherigen Videos geschrieben. Ich hatte meinen Antrieb ja bzgl. dem Spiel zwischen den Zahnrädern auf Grund dem Spiel in der Lagerung dessen, optimiert. Die Maschine lief auch eine Zeit lang gut, jedoch hat sich der Antrieb auch wieder verstellt. Ich habe auch diesen Mechanismus (hier im Video bei Minute 3:50) bereits entfernt gehabt. Das hat also in Bezug auf der Antriebsverstellung nicht wirklich was gebracht. Andere These: Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass das Kaffeepulver im oberen Bereich der BG verdichtet wird. Vielleicht ist die Kraft zu hoch und die Zahnräder springen über?! Die alten Brühgruppen der Benvenuto-Baureihe waren via. Feder gelagert. Der Kolben in dem das Siebt sitzt, war federgelagert. Der konnte bei der Verdichtung des Kaffeepulvers durch die Feder nach oben gedrückt werden. Diese Funktion gibt es ja bei diesen Brühgruppen nicht mehr?! Oder wird das Kaffeepulver nicht so verdichtet, weil der Antrieb nicht bis ganz hoch fährt? Den Antrieb habe ich schon 20x wieder eingestellt, eigentlich wollte ich die Maschine schon längst in die Luft jagen ;-) Schade für die Zeit. Ich überlege weiter....

Hallo, daran habe ich auch schon gedacht, dass der Antrieb beim Verdichten von Kaffeepulver überspringt. Fakt ist, dass sich der Mitnehmer in entgegengesetzter Richtung verstellt also beim Hochfahren. Ich habe gefüllt 100 mal die Brühgruppe händisch rauf und runter bewegt und bleibt jetzt definitiv nicht mehr hängen. Sollte sich der Antrieb dennoch verstellen dann liegt es nicht an der Brühgruppe. Eines gibt mir noch zu denken, die Bosch Kaffeemaschine hat den gleichen Antrieb und da verstellt sich nichts!?

@@yt.myworks ich habe ja nur die Siemens Maschine. Daher kein Vergleich möglich von meiner Seite aus. Die Mircoschalter hatte ich auch mal gegen neue getauscht, daran lag es auch nicht. Ich meine bei der letzten Verstellung ein Geräusch war genommen zu haben und danach war der Antrieb wieder verstellt. Die Verstellung passiert jedenfalls beim Hochfahren, wie Du auch schon gesagt hast. Fakt ist auch, das dies durch Krafteinwirkung ist. Die MS sind für die beiden Endlagen vermutlich da. Und dann kann bei starkem Kaffee (Also mehr Pulver) sich der Antrieb noch weiter verstellen. Denke ich zumindest.

Moin, ich hatte das Problem, das die Zahnräder vom Antrieb sich verschoben haben. Dadurch ist der Becher nicht mehr ganz nach oben gefahren. Ich möchte gerne das Problem verhindern. Ich denke es liegt / lag an der Brühgruppe. Eigentlich lässt sie sich leicht von Hand bewegen bzw. drehen. Ist es normal wenn der Becher nach oben geht das es dann etwas schwere zu drehen geht, oder sollte das auch sehr leicht gehen? Denke es kommt durch die Verdichtung?

Hi, ja beim Hochfahren lässt sich die Brühgruppe etwas schwerer drehen. Ein wenig Silikonfett kann Abhilfe schaffen. Ich denke auch, dass möglicherweise das Getriebe wegen der Brühgruppe überspringt. Das Getriebe an sich ist allerdings auch nicht von höchster Qualität :-/

Danke für das Lob, das motiviert sehr. Die Bosch Brühgruppe ist leider auch nicht fehlerfrei, daher kann ich sie ebenfalls nicht empfehlen. Nach meinem Kenntnisstand ist sie zudem nicht mehr lieferbar; es gibt nur Versionen, die identisch mit der von Siemens sind.

This cofe machine makes very delicious coffee. But the design cleaning concept is the biggest fail on earth. It totally destroys the reputation of German high quality. Regarding that this is Siemens and that they have sold this rubbish concept in staggering thousands of machines, it's a big shame in my point of view. Whenever I see the name Siemens I make a big step around it if possible. I'm actually heavily disappointed that German Ingeneering is coming to this point of crap development. There only job was to create a mechanism that can easily cleaned and would allow the cable to move inside freely. But this concept ist just the stunning biggest fail I have witnessed so far. SIEMENS SHOULD STEP PUT FROM THE MARKET if they can't do it better rather than destroying what previous engineers have achieved to get a good reputation in quality, precision, practicality and functionality around the globe. But nonetheless thank you for this Video at least it makes things better what Siemens has badly failed.

When these machines first came to market, I was very enthusiastic about the idea of separating the brewing chamber from the rest of the machine. All components that come into contact with moisture and could potentially cause mold are housed in a separate chamber that is easy to clean. Unlike other manufacturers, there aren't too many drip trays, grounds containers, and base trays. Additionally, the design is very beautiful and modern. Unfortunately, the execution of this idea, as you have already described, did not work out. The brewing group is too complex in its construction, and the transmission is far too weak for this task. The higher-end models are also notoriously difficult to repair. I hope that Siemens learns from these mistakes and incorporates significant improvements in future models.
