I remember seeing this PSP metal when I was a kid at the William S. Hart(silent film cowboy) ranch here in Saugus, California. I always wondered what it was used for. It seemed it was being used to acr as a wall to hold up the hill from collapsing.

Be careful around the deer. In Maine, where I live, it is illegal to hunt deer with a sword cane. That's probably because some poor sod tried it, as in "Have at thee, Bambi!" And Bambi proceeded to kick the snot out of him. --Bob in Maine

The tracks behind the library are not original.... I played there before the caboose and boxcar were bought in.

That explains why all the plates are held in by a single spike. I had thought about that myself. Still old rail though.

Dave, just an idea that the PSP could have come from Charleston as during World War II, the United States Army used Charleston as a practice site for urban combat, often using live ammunition. The site was known to the soldiers of nearby Fort Huachuca as "Little Tunisia" due to its climatic and geographic similarity to Tunisia in Africa.

That’s pretty interesting. I’m afraid we’ll never know for sure. Guy took it to the grave with him.

Excellent research, with all the history right there in your yard, makes one wonder where the trains were going and who were the passengers? Did they stay, or kept going "on down the road "..😁

Maybe the backyard tracks came out of one of the various mines in Tombstone?

That could be. I’m not sure anyone can prove it though.

That's awesome to see deer going right through your yard and stopping to say howdy what a trip usually go bail out you're right she's not intimidated by you a tame deer right on bud another good video tombstone the town too tough to die. Hello tomorrow Thanksgiving so hopefully you all have a good Thanksgiving I plan on getting a big belly. That's pretty cool about all that history they were going to run the tracks from New York all the way to tombstone too bad they didn't do it that would have been a trip tombstone might have been a huge City by now if it would have happened maybe even bigger than Tucson who knows strange how things happen and thanks for the info that's cool man definitely. I always like hearing Arizona history.

There were actually 3 large volcanic fields located in Arizona (San Francisco, Pinacate and Uinkaret volcano fields). It was not at all uncommon for tourists and locals to pick up pieces for yard decor. It was actually sort of a status symbol to have some from Crater Lake (part of the San Francisco field cited earlier and yes, the one in Arizona)

A Tombstone train trestle still exists. Drive toward the Ed Schieffelin Monument. You will cross a dry stream on a slap of concrete. This is near The Monument Guest Ranch. Park in this area and walk North along the dry stream bed until reaching Tombstone Gulch and the trestle. You can also see part of it on Google Maps. Marjorie Reed the Western Artist had a gallery in the old stage station at 55 E. Old Charleston Road. We went painting together out at that trestle. She used it as a back drop for one of hers.

Another interesting video. Thanks for the research of history! One of the other commentors pointed out is correct. Trains went through Charleston and Fairbanks and into Benson, etc..
