Very nice these. But with that length would it not be better with a double axle ? I see most at this size come with that. Would make it safer towing it, no ?
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
Nearly no trailers this size are tandem axles. Things like the Winnebago 1706FB are exceptions rather than the rules. A 2nd axle would be fine, but would make interior designs challenging with an extended wheel well. It would also very quickly push this RV out of the target weight range as well.

My niece and her husband bought this model except theirs is pre standard solar. I was struck with the same things you mention, why buy a tear drop trailer when you can have this? They pull it with a Toyota Forerunner with no issues. They had it lifted and fitted with offroad tires for an additional $800. This is a very nice couple's trailer. KItchen counter space could be better, otherwise it's just about perfect. Much better than everything else in it's class they checked out.

Slide-closed access = a HUGE, HUGE feature! Also love the arched ceiling, very “elegant” looking. Those two features add a ton of value to this camper trailer, IMO. The shower stall looked a bit cramped, unfortunately. Surely a somewhat more spacious shower could be installed in updates? The addition of a second axle would make this trailer an absolute knockout.

Man I really like this RV especially the Azdel. Not sure about the fixed solar panels. I prefer to chase the sun with the portable panels. When the panels are attached have you ever encountered a problem with any heat the panels put off since they are attached directly to the roof. Thanks
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
That's why I mentioned how it has both roof mount and portable. You get the best of both worlds here. Also, the point of roof mount solar is you don't need to chase the sun. The sun hits the roof first. If the sun isn't hitting the roof, then a portable panel isn't going to do much for you unless you're in an area under coverage like trees and happened to be parked JUST inside the shadows.

Depends on the model. SOME might be able to squeeze it in if something like a gap or mini headboard exists (albeit tightly). We've had people buy something like a wolf pup 16BHS & remove the headboard to install a full residential queen.

Love it. I'm English. I live near Durham in the north east of England. However, I lived in Michigan back in the late 80's. Great state and good times. If I still lived there, I'd get this from you. The caravans we get here in the UK are bloody boring. Mostly anyway. My lady is pissed off with me drooling over RV porn. 😄 Oh well! A man can dream. So 2 things that I reckon could improve this already amazing caravan. 1, more solar panels on the roof! How about looking into a flexible solar panel that is actually the awning!!! Imagine that?? 2, I camp alot with my hobby. Quite often, I get very sweaty and stinky, or soaked and muddy. You guys don't have enclosed, tent style awnings so where would you put all the clothes etc? Not in you car and not in your RV. So, how about a wrap around tent that clips into the sides of the slide out? You can hang your wet and muddy stuff underneath! Also, you could have a closeable vent linked to the heating system. With a flap you can drop, your kit gets to dry out and it's out of the way. In the summer, you just hang your stuff. What do you think? I wish you could make your caravans under licence over here. You'd sell em. No problem. Anyway, cheers! Jeremy.

Josh, nice video. I'd been looking at the Forrest River No Bo 19.5 but this seems to have most of the same features plus solar. I boondock a lot so that's important. I like they have on-the-roof and pannel access on side. Questions: 1.What is the GVWR on this unit. I currently tow with a 2017 Pathfinder SUV 6k towing capacity. 2) Is the awing powered or crank-out. Does Haylett RV do after market additional roof solar panels. Need more juice than than when I boondock.
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
What I'm about to say is not meant to be negative, but merely factual: The NoBo series is literally just R-Pod trying to ride Rockwood's success with the Geo Pro series. They looked at a Geo pro, peeled out things like the azdel, nose cap, solar, etc in an attempt to be a little less expensive. There's nothing wrong with that concept, but that's the jist of it. GVWR Would simply be dry weight + cargo weight (both listed at the 00:05 mark btw). And we can add extra solar as required. Give our guys a call. Let's get something put together!
@kylelaseter43586 жыл бұрын
Love this Geo Pro floor plan, three solar related questions- 1. Does the existing wiring on top for the 100w panel make it easy to add an additional panel on top if desired? 2. When using a portable panel with the side solar port, does it run directly to the battery from the port and need its on charge controller or does the side port also run to the controller that the roof mounted panel runs to as well before going to the battery? 3. I'm assuming the 1000w inverter is a go power model as well, but can you tell me which particular model the inverter is? Thanks for doing what you do!
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
1.) Additional panels possible, though you'll want to make sure you stay within the controller's specs or upgrade the controller. Not usually an issue due to limited space on the roof to physically place panels. Note this would always be an aftermarket item. 2.) Portable panels have their own integrated charge controller typically. As a result it's just a straight shot to the battery. 3.) Give our sales team a call so they can physically eyeball the unit. I don't have specific model numbers recorded. 800-256-5196

The Geo Pro team is still continuing to raise the bar! It would be interesting if they take this floor plan and extend the slide 6-8" and install a 2 person dinette instead of the couch.
@mrjack88496 жыл бұрын
Chimp 6 I think they’re trying to watch the weight in the slide. The sofa now isn’t a real fold out bed, which makes very lightweight. Although I think a dinette could also be lightweight. I would be interested in putting 2 rotating recliners in that space that can face the tv or each other with a table in between. Those would probably be heavier though. It will be interesting to see what they come up with next!
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
Jack: Recliners are not an option in the sofa's location. If you look at the RV from the inside, then you are given the impression the sofa starts at the floor. But if you look at the slide fascia or look at it from the outside, then you see the bottom of the slide is significantly above the floor. The main reason for this is the wheel well and that type of slide system is found on basically any camper with this floorplan including Rockwood's larger 1909S, 2109S and Coachmen's 192RBS & 189RBS versions of this layout.

Extremely interested in one of these for my teen daughter and I, but wish it had a flat jackknife sofa (like the murphy bed models have). Do you think it would be possible to remove the sofa's seat cushions so I could replace with a twin memory foam mattress, cut to fit the frame? I'm a crafty/handy person. Also, is there by chance any storage under the sofa seat, or behind the back of the sofa to tuck the table (or smaller one like a tray table) into? Also, I'm just under 5' so the height of the bike rack option concerns me. Is the rack stationary or does it fold down for loading/offloading bikes? If it's stationary, do you know of any other bike rack options that could make it more accessible to a hobbit like me? One last thing, do you know of any notable differences in quality/build/specs between the E-pro and Geo Pro aside from color scheme? Love, love, love your vids! So informational. I'm a research analyst, so I thrive on such things! I'm so impressed with your depth of knowledge and forthrightness, I would happily drive up from Pittsburgh to buy from your lot.
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
You could easily swap the existing sofa out for another, but you cannot store anything behind/below it since the sofa goes up against the wall & the slide does not go down to the floor. The bottom of the sofa is basically setting right on top of the slide floor due to the location of the wheel well under the slide (which is basically necessary in all instances of this model across manufacturers). Bike rack is not stationary. It's tall. Also, *lol* at the hobbit comment :) Geo Pro and E-Pro are physically the same RV. Rockwoods and Flagstaffs have only 3 differences: Decals, Decors, and Resale. Rockwood outsells Flagstaff nearly 3-1 now & carries a stronger resale as a result. It's not a MASSIVE difference, but hey -- take what you can get!

Been holding off to see what changes they would make and these are almost all the little things I was hoping to see. The front windshield, the ladder, getting rid of the oven, the shower caddy, etc. Just incredible detail and attention to the consumers. Very excited. Comparing this roof to a 2018 it does look like they actually cut back a little on the sealer/caulking they are using. Which is fine because the amount they were using was almost comical. Question for Josh - this is the second GeoPro video that I've noticed the forward wall panels in the front pass through compartment seemed to be out of place, or pushed in, off their track/frame. Why is that? Is this the result of some dealer prep?
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
The "off" piece of paneling in the front nose you're noticing is actually just an extra piece of paneling they install to protect *something* up there.

I live in the Pacific Northwest and this trailer with less options is more expensive than at your dealership by like $5000. Do you think it’s because of the destination charge to ship it from Indiana all the way over here? That’s the story one salesperson told me at least... Would like to know if you think the same thing... Great Video by the way.
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
It's part of it, but shipping isn't nearly $5,000 to that area -- especially considering they ship these campers 2 or 3 at a time on the back of a giant flatbed so the shipping costs are split among them. It's $5,000 more with fewer options because they don't think most people will be willing to drive for a better deal. And half the time the dealer uses a tactic like "You have to pay us more money or else we won't give you service." Basically, they're trying to twist your arm behind your back and tell you they're doing you a favor so you should thank them.

The gap is there because Geo Pro models come in varying widths, so they utilize a generic mattress. If you want a longer bed, then put in a longer bed. You can always do something with empty space like that.

When I do the math regarding how much bed space should be there a true queen SHOULD fit. However, when you look at the RV the bed goes wall-to-wall. It makes me think SOME spec is posted incorrectly on this camper. Either way my best suggestion is to give our guys a call and have them hard measure the mattress area and body size to figure out which spec is incorrectly listed on Rockwood's floorplan schematic. If we're lucky, then then bed is actually an 80" queen and you're good to go.

In your discussion with Rudy you state that the cargo capacity of his vehicle assumes a 150 lb driver. I have seen this number on several different forum discussion boards as well. I'm curious as to the source of this figure because I have never seen it in any owner's manual I have ever read. Ford, Chevy, Nissan, Hyundai, etc all say in their manuals that the weight of all occupants (not just passengers or driver weight above 150) should be subtracted from the payload capacity of the vehicle listed on the "yellow sticker". Is the 150 lb driver assumption one of those things that has been around "forever" so people just automatically say it even though it may no longer be applicable? I know you pride yourself on providing honest, accurate information to everyone and look forward to your reply.

As always great presentation.. When will Rockwood make an all season (4 season) Geo pro?. As i reside in the Northeast, it's a must.. Thanks for all that you do. God bless.
@JoshtheRVNerd5 жыл бұрын
Nothing Rockwood makes is "Four Seasons." It's not their target market. They focus on the largest segments of the industry which includes spring/summer/fall RVers with small provisions made for extended season use (namely heating pads on their larger models). As the largest producer of laminated trailers and light weights they have no real plans to change currently. Important to remember they're a weight sensitive brand. Truly insulating an RV adds weight which is a factor they're trying to avoid. In this smaller RV segment several brands have thrown the word "Four Seasons" around, but none have actually proven it with testing data from something like Dometic's heat controlling chambers.

You say the walls are made with Azdel but I don't see any Azdel sticker on the wall by the door. Are you sure it's Azdel? What the floor is made of?
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
I am sure Azdel is used in this product as I have personally walked the Geo Pro production line (twice actually). I completely understand why you would question it however, as Rockwood has made no attempt to broadcast their use of Azdel (Which amazes me considering Azdel's popularity and benefits). The Floor decking is actually the same as the really popular Rockwood A-Frame popups - a seamless structureboard that's basically completely dipped & coated in an anti-wicking material before being installed atop aluminum floor studs.

Two days ago we experienced -37 degrees F windchill. There are exactly zero RVs made for that kind of use. The biggest fifth wheels and diesel pushers are not made for use in that sort of weather without serious assistance. Even more serious assistance is needed for smaller RVs like this given their thinner walls and reduced insulation values. So it really doesn't matter what it is you look at -- if you want to winter camp below freezing temps, then you need skirting, supplemental heating, etc.

after adding 2 batteries and 2 full tank of propane,the tongue weight could get over 500 lb?
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
It would be close, but likely just under. A properly set weight distribution set also redistributes roughly 30% of the loaded tongue weight back onto the trailer's axle, so that will help.

Will this trailer be fine in a Michigan winter?
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
You won't have a problem maintaining cabin heat in this little thing (slippers/sweat shirt expected), but it's not rated to use the water system in sub-freezing conditions.
@cebrsheridan19416 жыл бұрын
@@JoshtheRVNerd Gotcha...are there any lightweight Rockwoods that do protect the water system from the cold?
@JoshtheRVNerd6 жыл бұрын
Rockwood does not build for use in Michigan winters without assistance. That being said it gets cold enough here no RV is built to withstand Michigan winters without assistance. Their 8ft wide models like Mini Lites, Ultra Lites, and Signature models all have enclosed Bellies. Signatures have tank heating pads that are optional elsewhere in the series. Tank heating pads alone do not necessarily protect water lines, however. This is not a brand made for cold camping. Enclosed belly models will be alright for a night that dips below freezing, but not for hard-cold living. For something like that you need to look at a brand like Cougar or Eagle. Open Range also does well in that area. Again, any RV will require things like skirting at least for winter to act as a wind breaks. We've done videos on this topic. Have you reviewed any of them? Perhaps they would prove useful.

Can I pull this with a 2016 Infiniti QX60?
@JoshtheRVNerd4 жыл бұрын
Please give our sales team a call to explore this in more depth. The only answer I can provide is "it depends on a few factors." No matter what it will be at the absolute limit of your tow ratings. For short/easy trips it might be okay. For big hills/mountains/long distances I don't think your vehicle is well suited to handle any trailer this size.

How long is that slide/ couch ? I want to replace the couch and I need dimensions
@JoshtheRVNerd5 жыл бұрын
I'm out of the office currently trying to keep up. Rockwood hasn't provided that spec in a resource I have available. Give your service center a call and ask them to measure one out for you. Note: You can't just replace that with another sofa, recliners, dinette, etc. The bottom of the slide box doesn't go all the way to the floor of the RV due to the location of the wheel well. There's a reason that style of sofa is used in that floor plan. The bottom of the slide box is roughly a foot high off the flooring.

Is there storage under the couch?
@JoshtheRVNerd5 жыл бұрын
There is not. The base of the slide is actually JUST below the seat of the sofa. The "face" of the sofa is actually a false facade to give it a complete sofa look. This is common in sofa-only shallow slide campers. Similar seating found in things like the Rockwood 2109S and the Freedom Express 192RBS
