Fun fact: the Gaunt family (Voldemort’s lineage) who are descendants of Salazar Slytherin, only spoke in Parsletongue to each other when it was just them with no other company that couldn’t speak Parseltongue. The Gaunts were very prideful of their heritage.

Something I love about Harry Potter is the layers of subtext, which is sorely lacking in 2023. Snape is glaring at Potter the first time he sees him. But we do not learn till much later that it is because he loved Harry’s mother and Harry has her eyes. We see a horcrux in the second book, but we don’t know what a Horcrux is until the sixth book. Harry speaks in parseltongue from the beginning. Does not realize until Goblet of Fire that this is why he could hear the basilisk as it moved around the castle.

well, the Chamber's entrance was just a trapdoor until Hogwarts installed a new plumbing system, it just so happens that one of the plumbing crew was Corvonus Gaunt, a member of the Gaunt family that had not gone insane due to inbreeding yet, Corvonus knew about the Chamber and could speak Parseltongue, but he didn't open the Chamber or unleash the basilisk within, instead, he was the one who meddled with the plumbing system and created that sink in the bathroom that would only open if a person spoke in Paraseltongue, the modifications Corvonus secretly made to the pipes allowed the basilisk to slither around Hogwarts undetected when Tom Riddle Junior opened the Chamber

I like how in the first one harry potter was just like: ok a snake is on the loose no need to panic. and he just sat there while the snake moves
One thing I would like someone to tell me. Harry didn’t know what he did yet Vernon accuses him as if he knows, and when Harry says Magic he says no such thing. That’s next level hatred from your uncle.
@harisadu8998 Жыл бұрын
Vernon knows magic exists obviously. He's heard it from Petunia and James and Lily Potter.

2:56 This is a red flag for not just all the students and professors but also Harry himself.

OK but I’m actually curious at 10:16 is that Nagini in her human form?… or is she just enchanted to look like that? Because I thought Nagini couldn’t take on her human form after the curse completely turned her body into a snake probably somewhere in the 50s
@HordrissTheConfuser2 жыл бұрын
That's Nagini using the (very dead) skin of Bathilda Bagshot as a disguise. Sweet dreams!
@HistoryInvestigators2 жыл бұрын
Nagini is an Asian woman trapped in snake form. It is a disguise, the skin of a dead woman
@SofiaXY5 күн бұрын
Correction: Bathilda Bagshot was not in Part 2.

So that means Harry was speaking Parseltongue in public and no-one could hear it
@mrmister3782Ай бұрын
You forgot the scene where Harry runs away from the Basilisk and speaks parseltongue and then Tom Riddle/Voldemort says that the Basilisk only listens to him
@MorganKing955 сағат бұрын
That was Riddle ordering the basilisk to kill, and then saying "BTW, parseltongue won't save you" as a hand-wave to the audience
