Hi Carmen, aloes are nearly my favourite genus, euphorbias have the number one spot. Lovely aloes, and such a huge range available. We don’t have any access to any new aloes at present, due to travel restrictions. So I am concentrating on my what I have. In Australia many aloes are coming into flower now, our days are changing ....thanks for sending us more sun. It will soon be repotting time....there is a lot to do..I am amazed at the rate of growth over the past few months. Aren’t we lucky that we have our plants to keep us sane. Enjoy your videos so much, you certainly are comfortable in front of the camera , your voice is so soothing and your presentation superb.

Great collection! I just wanted to add that they often curl in their leaves because they are thirsty. Especially ‘Firebird’, it definitely appreciates less direct sun and more water here in SE Texas. (Also, your ‘Snowstorm’ looks more like ‘White Fox’, and your “vera” at the end is actually a hybrid called ‘California’. Definitely lots of similar hybrids out there!)

Hello Carmen. Nice finding you on KZbin😉💖🙏The Aloe aristata I have been growing for years!😉It definitely naturally loses its' feeder roots in summer and what remains are long tap-roots. Try keeping it under your shade in midsummer. Don't water it and let it close up into a rose-bud shape!☝️From fall season it starts to make new roots and resume watering when dry👌Aloe aristata is a winter growing aloe the same as variegata. Let me send you some photos of mine to your Instagram😉🙏

If you don’t mind me asking, what direction does you balcony face?
@carmenwhitehead

My balcony and all my windows face east. I specifically chose this apartment for that reason. The things we do for our plants. 😊🌱🐶

How much perilite do you add to the succulent soil?
@carmenwhitehead
@carmenwhitehead 7 ай бұрын
I usually make it about 25% of the soil mixture. Hope this helps.

Did you add stones to the plant

I sometimes add small rocks for appearance, or bigger rocks to help stabilize the plant if I've just repotted it.

Hello! How do I encourage aloe Vera to flower? Mine is more than 3 years old and the leaves are strong, but no flower!

I've found that direct morning sun seems to help in the blooming process. They need some sun (not harsh) to activate the process Good luck!

My neighbor gave me a giant aloe and it died.. I think it got root rot from the rain.. it was on my patio. I like the small ones with the zebra stripes!

@@carmenwhitehead I have an Aloe Vera now and love it. I've neglected her a bit recently in the Houston heat, but she's still looking fantastic. Such an easy and beautiful plant!

Very nice plants. I still have not found the variety that was given to me. It remains tiny and does nothing but produce babies. I had a year old boyleii which produced babies, too. But this tiny, fragile variety is unreasonable. More like a peppermint plant - I do my work underground...

I have always been fascinated by nature, ever since I was a little girl. Was given my own garden patch and sunflower seeds when I was 7. I remember watching a parrot we call locally '28's' eat my biggest sunflower in neat rows. 28's and sunflowers have been my favourite ever since. I have always had a green thumb and spend all my time outside. I travel for work and am always collecting cuttings and seeds. Succulents have long been a favourite. I recently got some Boab seeds and I grow a lot of bush-tucker plants, and fruit and veggies. I have a large property with chickens who fertilise everything for me and pinch my tomatoes.
