Pro tip: if there’s an enemy that’s out of reach DONT sprint towards them, instead do charge attacks until you reach them. You’ll trigger xingqui’s rain swords which will hit them and get them wet and also do damage by the time you reach the target.

@@Nikkikkikkiz Mid set, you lose a 2 piece which is a huge damage lost to gain 40% normal and charge damage which is terrible because you lose the 2 piece making other options better by default, Also the 10% attack speed makes no difference for Hu Tao charge attack cancels affectively the set seems good on paper but is mediocre, P.S just use 2 piece 2 piece

I've been using Hu Tao and Layla on the same team for a while and it's a pretty cool combo. Now that I have Yelan, Double Hydro seems insane. The level of damage I'm dealing is ludicrous with both the Vaporize and Melt reactions. Plus, Layla's shield also raises my attack and it tanks enough hits that it's unusual for me to actually break it before it's duration time ends.

In my opinion, any f2p player should stay away from pyro and cryo dps characters, i am going to be using Hu Tao as an example for pyro characters, and Ayaka for cryo, For Hu Tao she is VERY painful to build for f2ps, not only does she needs two of the best five stars in the game, but she needs her weapon, and A TON of investment into her artifact domain, primarily because she has a FOUR scaling system, since she needs hp, atk, em, and crit, and it is REALLY hard to get artifacts that have all four, plus without her weapon, her dmg takes a significant hit, since you lose a TON of base atk,crit, and hp, and well my advice for f2p players is to stay AWAY from the weapon banner i lost 200 wishes as an f2p in a single weapon banner so learn from my mistake and don’t pull in it, Hu Tao’s c1 is optional but is better to have, since it makes using her easier, so in conclusion, Hu Tao needs, two of the best five stars in the game, her weapon, and alot of good artifacts to be usable, which in my opinion is alot of wishes to bes used on one character, and also in my opinion Hu Tao is the MOST overrated character in the game and people constantly saying she is a great dps (especially people like Zy0x and Sevyplays) are the main reason for it, and saying this, made me dig a primogems hole so deep for my self that i can’t get out of it without making my Hu Tao permanently unusable, also (for Zy0x and any genshin guides youtubers out there) you should NEVER judge how good a character is based on a whale’s experience, ALWAYS try to use a character in a f2p team/way to get if they are good enough or not for f2ps, this means right f2ps weapons AT r1, trying to minimize the effects of constellations, and using four star characters only. Anyway, for Ayaka, the problem is more or less the same, while she does not REALLY needs her weapon, Shenhe, Xingque, and a anemo swirl character like sucrose is necessary, and well for me at least i HAVE NEVER won a 50 50 so i should not expect that any f2ps will, vut if you did manage to get Shenhe, and great artifacts for Ayaka she is good at that point, but if not, you will easily be spending about 360 wishes JUST TO GET the two of them. I am sure some people will jump to say that Ganyu is better but in fact, she is WORSE. For starters, The Himayumi doesn’t have alot of base atk so getting her required atk lvls could be problematic not to mention crit ratio, plus she CAN’T use Xingque or Yelan and aince Barbra is not good enough most of the times, most players will think they are forced to pull for kokomi, not only that, but she also NEEDS Shenhe, and a swirl character, and REALLY a five star weapon, AND good artifacts, if you want to play a freaze Ganyu. If you want to play melt Ganyu it gets worst since now you need elemental mastery, and switch out bennett with shenhe, and a good shielder since you will be on field for so long, and since Lyla sucks, Thoma is usable but you will need to pull for him, And Zhongli is a five star character, more spending becomes even more necessary. I know this has been a long comment, but i really needed to vent out my frustration on the flat out lies that the community says, and the excuses they make just because they think a character is cute. I AM BEGGING YOU, juat do at least one thing this comment says or just tell people to stay away from pyro, and cryo dpss and the weapon banner to create a fair environment for everyone, just the people with money. THANK YOU FOR READING THIS. Edit: I FINALLY MANAGED TO FINISH THE ABYSS WITH HER COMPLETELY f2p, and as it turns out, i was wrong about her, she can finish the abyss with r1 dragons bane at c0 though it took alot of tries, if you have Yelan, and Zhongli, get the dragons bane and try alot in the abyss, but if you don’t want to try alot and only want to finish the abyss with a breaze then get someone else or try to get her weapon.

@@09archange I mean, you have a point, but to me, Hu Tao only really needs Yelan as another five star character. Xingqiu is easy to get for most people, and the last slot is interchangeable. I for example use Layla, since she also scales with HP, making a double hydro team a pretty good option for her + some occasional melt thanks to her shield stars. About her weapon, yeah, it's a big change, but it's also not completely necessary? Like, it's VERY good to have her weapon, it makes it easier, but you can change for another one. As for the artifacts, you really only need Crit DMG/Rate and HP, those help more than ATK, and you don't need that much EM. Hu Tao is usually capable of destroying anything that I need her to, specially since I didn't blaze my way through trying to beat the world in one go. I increased my world slowly, so I could have a full team completely trained by the time I wanted to reach the higher world levels. Forcing the game to higher world levels while your team is not fully done can be so dreadful, honestly. For Ayaka though, Yeah, you need a lot to build her up. You need Shenhe, and there's the need for other five star characters sometimes. I don't have her, so I can't enter into details. I want to get her someday, but I don't plan to make a Freeze team to her (I know it's her best team, but I kinda want to do something different with what I have, so I'll see what I'm gonna do)

@@insecure8926 For starters, i was talking about the abyss, any character can finish world enemies and bosses with no problem even healers since there is no timer and the enemies in the overworld are weak, IF you try to use double hydro Hu Tao with Lyla in the abyss, you WILL NOT finish floor twelve at all, unless you have homa and aqua, trust me i tried and she failed. Now to the part about replacing her weapon, the only options available are the dragons bane which sucks at anything less than r5 and REALLY amazing artifacts, deathmatch which requires you to spend on the battlepass, white tassle which sucks, and homa which would require me to spend 200 wishes to get, same goes for all other five star options, so tell me, are there any options i missed, or are you just a whale who simps for Hu Tao and is trying to make excuses to try and justify that she is good an d usable in the current meta? Personally, i think you are the latter, and my advice, try a r2 Hu Tao with no constellations, with f2p Yelan, Xingque, and Lyla in the current abyss to understand my suffering, and then STAY OUT OF THIS DISCUSSION.

@@09archange To answer your question, I have never spent money on Genshin. My Hu Tao is C0, plus I have both Aqua and Homa (courtesy of Hu Tao and Yelan double banners). I honestly don't try Abyss at level 12, I'm more of a casual player. I know that Hu Tao is not in the "current meta", but let's be honest here, the abyss is made for pros, it's not made for casual players, and I'm the latter, so I don't even try to do something that is not within my grasp. For the rest of the game though, I'm in a very good spot, and that's enough for me. Sometimes, that can be enough for most players, not everyone of us are Abyss Try-Harders.

@@insecure8926 You are clearly someone who both has money, and is lucky in the banners, i am not and the only reason i got Hu Tao is because of the abyss, every one kept saying “oh she is a GREAT dps” or “oh Hu Tao can finish the abyss and does alot of dmg” but all i have seen is nothing and this makes me super frustrated because of how many wishes i have spent trying to make her good, for me the abyss is the true test of weather a character is good or not and so far Hu Tao has proved that she is no longer good. If you think she is good that is your opinion but honestly, in reaction teams she is inferior to dendro, electro, and hydro dps characters in everyway and in mono pyro her dmg is not even comparable to dendro, electro, or hydro dos characters so in every way imaginable she sucks.

Pro tip: do not use xingqiu and a cryo unit together against bosses (or enemies that can't be frozen) This consumes the hydro/cryo aura and makes you miss vapes and melts. Also if you're triggering vape or melt, definitely reach 200-300 EM before stacking HP

For note, if one has C6 Bennett, he can be one of her better supports if you don't need a shield as the attack combined with the pyro dmg he provides can make it worth while to use him despite the risk of him bringing you over 50% HP. (Yelan/Sucrose/Bennett is the strongest team I've found.)

@@Games-yq9sc Personally, I only C6'd mine because I never liked Bennett due to his design and decided to use him for silly builds, which turned out to be rather fun. That said, yeah. It does cause problems for some units, like Ayaka, Eula, and physical Keqing.

To anyone new to HUTAO, be aware that there is a MAX HP that you could utilize, anything more than that isn't gonna be converted by her Elemental Skill. The MAX HP depends on the WEAPON(BASE ATK) that you are using.

Fortunately, in order to hit that limit, Hu Tao would have to be closer to 45-50k HP, which is highly unlikely for the average Hu Tao player :D

@@spiderninja_1 regular hu tao players only use dragon's bane. i've seen a lot trying to hit the HP cap of a homa (45k) when DB could only benefit up to 35k HP. i've seen players advocate that hu tao should use HP goblets to reach 45k HP since she gains elem bonus on her passive when HP is low.

In my opinion, any f2p player should stay away from pyro and cryo dps characters, i am going to be using Hu Tao as an example for pyro characters, and Ayaka for cryo, For Hu Tao she is VERY painful to build for f2ps, not only does she needs two of the best five stars in the game, but she needs her weapon, and A TON of investment into her artifact domain, primarily because she has a FOUR scaling system, since she needs hp, atk, em, and crit, and it is REALLY hard to get artifacts that have all four, plus without her weapon, her dmg takes a significant hit, since you lose a TON of base atk,crit, and hp, and well my advice for f2p players is to stay AWAY from the weapon banner i lost 200 wishes as an f2p in a single weapon banner so learn from my mistake and don’t pull in it, Hu Tao’s c1 is optional but is better to have, since it makes using her easier, so in conclusion, Hu Tao needs, two of the best five stars in the game, her weapon, and alot of good artifacts to be usable, which in my opinion is alot of wishes to bes used on one character, and also in my opinion Hu Tao is the MOST overrated character in the game and people constantly saying she is a great dps (especially people like Zy0x and Sevyplays) are the main reason for it, and saying this, made me dig a primogems hole so deep for my self that i can’t get out of it without making my Hu Tao permanently unusable, also (for Zy0x and any genshin guides youtubers out there) you should NEVER judge how good a character is based on a whale’s experience, ALWAYS try to use a character in a f2p team/way to get if they are good enough or not for f2ps, this means right f2ps weapons AT r1, trying to minimize the effects of constellations, and using four star characters only. Anyway, for Ayaka, the problem is more or less the same, while she does not REALLY needs her weapon, Shenhe, Xingque, and a anemo swirl character like sucrose is necessary, and well for me at least i HAVE NEVER won a 50 50 so i should not expect that any f2ps will, vut if you did manage to get Shenhe, and great artifacts for Ayaka she is good at that point, but if not, you will easily be spending about 360 wishes JUST TO GET the two of them. I am sure some people will jump to say that Ganyu is better but in fact, she is WORSE. For starters, The Himayumi doesn’t have alot of base atk so getting her required atk lvls could be problematic not to mention crit ratio, plus she CAN’T use Xingque or Yelan and aince Barbra is not good enough most of the times, most players will think they are forced to pull for kokomi, not only that, but she also NEEDS Shenhe, and a swirl character, and REALLY a five star weapon, AND good artifacts, if you want to play a freaze Ganyu. If you want to play melt Ganyu it gets worst since now you need elemental mastery, and switch out bennett with shenhe, and a good shielder since you will be on field for so long, and since Lyla sucks, Thoma is usable but you will need to pull for him, And Zhongli is a five star character, more spending becomes even more necessary. I know this has been a long comment, but i really needed to vent out my frustration on the flat out lies that the community says, and the excuses they make just because they think a character is cute. I AM BEGGING YOU, juat do at least one thing this comment says or just tell people to stay away from pyro, and cryo dpss and the weapon banner to create a fair environment for everyone, just the people with money. Edit: I FINALLY MANAGED TO FINISH THE ABYSS WITH HER COMPLETELY f2p, and as it turns out, i was wrong about her, she can finish the abyss with r1 dragons bane at c0 though it took alot of tries, if you have Yelan, and Zhongli, get the dragons bane and try alot in the abyss, but if you don’t want to try alot and only want to finish the abyss with a breaze then get someone else or try to get her weapon.

One thing I'd like to mention is that Mona works as another support for the double Hydro team. I don't think it's as optimal as Yelan (can't test because I don't have her) but it still seems very usable, especially with C1 Mona which buffs your Vaporize damage even further, plus you still get Hydro resonance.

Another reason why you want to use her burst at the end of skill is that its healing might increase your hp to over 50% (esp with a lot of enemies) and make you lose the pyro dmg bonus for the whole rest of your skill

While Hutao is a fan favorite unfortunatly there are certain hidden qualms a person may have and should be aware of a head of time. In single target situations, If you cant learn hutaos, animation cancels properly, hutao becomes on par with vaporise deluc and yoimiya..... and can fall behind yoimiya especially if you consistently have to travel to your target either cause you went yahoo and dashed too far through your target or your target moved. Sadly in either situation you lose dps because your wasting skill time to travel. Unfortunatly almost all spread sheet data always assumes your fighting an immovable boss with optimal rotation. The next qualm is more future speculation but should be mentioned. While hutao might always be powerfull, she isn't as future proof as other players might have hoped. Because hutao has toooo much pyro application, 3u minimum, unless she has a consitent multi U elemental driver she will end up being the driver applying to much pyro and setting up the reaction. While this might not be and issue for 1 of her current teammates, xinqiu, it does limit the versitility of possible future supports. This was a huge issue with a c0 yelan, as yelan by her self couldnt be enough to consistently drive hutaos charge attacks but was perfect to run solo for deluc and yoimiya. To get into elemental gauge theory when forward vaporising or melting, pyro to cryo and hydro to pyro, the driver would need need about 1 to 2x the amount of U to consistently drive a forward reaction assuming no icd. This provides a base 2x multipler to the reaction before em bonus. With reverse vaporising or melting, pyro to hydro and cyro to pyro, the driver needs half the amount of U assuming no icd. This proved a 1.5 base multiplier before em bonus. As of now xinqiu is the only solo character that can consistently drive hutaos reverse vaporizes and sadly a consistent melt hutao may never be achieveable. Unfortunatyly hutao being a 3u pyro dps may need a minimum of 6U of cryo. Even if you copy xinqiu's kit you would need to double or even Triple the amount of elemental application per tick for it to even come close to being able to forward melt. Because hutao has no icd she will never properly function with cryo, if they create a cyro xinqiu or a consistent layla and there for she will be losing out on the extra base .5 reaction damage Deluc and especially yoimiya, because of icd on weak attacks, will be able to abuse. This is currently being done with deluc and c6 kayea or regular kayea and rose and c6 rose with yoimiya. Players have been trying to incorperate layla or kaeya with xinqiu at hopes hutao may get some melts; however, because the main reaction will be vaporise adding a mixature of cyro while possible, will also be redundant. If you love the character dont let this stop you; however, these are still points you should keep in mind.

about the validity of your points, I'd say- yesn't. First of all, while yoimiya doesn't have to 'travel', there's a very important point to consider: and that is hutao's resistance to interruption. It's not often that she gets staggered even while fighting in melee range- meanwhile yoimiya _has_ to execute her 4-hit normal combo for maximum dps _without_ any sort of interruption resistance. If she gets interrupted, that's it. With hutao you can dodge, but yoimiya has to stay in one place for her dps combos. If she moves to avoid being hit/interrupted, she has to start all over again. I'd say that Hutao's the winner in terms of net pros and cons here. about your point regarding hutao not working with cryo units, that... doesn't matter at all lmao. The forward melt reaction of pyro over cryo is a whale setup, a lot more people like using hydro instead. Moreover I'd say hutao will _always_ be future-proof... unless they delete xingqui from the game. Hydro is a broken element- it has some of the best dps units, on-field appliers as well as supports, and one thing they have above cryo is that they don't have the energy problems cryo units do. Even if a "cryo xingqui" comes along, one character won't make the entire meta of hydro crumble because these characters are here to stay. In short, hutao is a melee single-target unit, she's meant to be examined in a single-target context so her need to "travel" isn't a downside, it's a feature. She is not squishy, has resistance to interruption, and can dodge freely- all of which yoimiya can't do which is a bit sad tbh.. and her synergy with hydro over cryo was never and never will be a downside. My actual thoughts on her downsides are that she scales with investment artifacts for crit%/critdmg, hp/pyro dmg etc etc.. while hyperbloom does great without going through rng hell for the perfect dps artifacts- all you need is EM stacking. If you do choose to get hutao, she won't disappoint. But be prepared to farm her perfect artifacts for a long long time till you get lucky (I've had hutao since she first dropped but I still haven't gotten good artifacts so I use ganyu more... sadge)

And with harder content being released it is getting hard for any character especially a beserker like hutao not to be one shoted if your playing a no healer set up. I just wanted to dispel a misconception that newer players might get (that "ranged" units are better if they have a significant dps due to not needing to travel). Regarding hutao's strong application and being glued to xingqui- it's not a bad thing for three main reasons: 1) Xingqui is a 4 star, and viable even at c0. He gets good with constellations but isn't dependent on them since his numbers are busted from the start. All f2p players are likely to get him if they pull, can save starglitter to grab him in the shop- and in the worst case scenario they can get him for free _every year_ during the lantern rite. 2) Xingqui isn't just good with hutao- he's the best support in the game, so much so that's there's less than 5 characters who don't benefit from xingqui at all. You could close your eyes and make a team with xingqui in it, and chances are he'll actually contribute to its damage and viability. 3) Hutao is one of the _the_ best units in the game to use with xingqui. Yes, she needs him in her best teams- but her damage justifies the fact that you can't use xingqui in a different team instead. Dps units that rely heavily on supports for reactions and damage are not worth it for f2p (I'm sorry heizou) and supports that can only work with a very niche set of dps units and constellations are even worse (I'm looking at you, Sara). Basically, if you have hutao, putting xingqui in her team isn't a "waste" of xingqui. But if someone puts yoimiya and xingqui together, it's definitely because they like yoimiya and want to give her a great hydro support, not because that's xingqui's optimal place to be.

I do have to make another point while xinqiu is one of the best supports in the game, yelans utility and not being solo compatable did cause alot of issues, controversy and uproar because instead of being a xinqiu dps upgrade like for other vaporise teams it became another slot restriction for hutao and a few pyro catalyst users. Granted a c6 xinqiu is possible as a f2p if you been playing since launch but so is a c0 yelan if you have saved enough. These restrictions may cause players to have buyers remorse because they are limited to a certain team or else they drastically lose dps. Now to get to the point, hutao is still currently the strongest single target pyro dps if played optimally. But thats if played optimally.

I just wanted to say that there is another good double hydro option that i have be using ever since double hydro buff, it is hu tao, xinqiu, mona and zhong li. Of course it isn't as good double hydro with yelan but i think it's a good alternative.
