We’re doing the same thing. 4th night for free is so good. I bought at the 90% bonus, hoping my wife gets the 100% soon. I noticed I couldn’t buy until I hit my second statement date. I feel like the sign up bonus points isn’t sustainable but buying these points is.

@@Every_State_Park we figure if we can repeat the million point purchase every year, that gets us 3 to 4 months of really good room rates, but that leaves a lotta year to try and fill on the cheap! We're crunching the numbers on buying points on the other chains that do 4th or 5th night free on redemptions... stay tuned!

@@thepodojils Yeah, I saw Hyatt points max at 55k per year and only a 20% bonus. I also didn't see any bonus nights when booking with points. I'll be interested to see what you come up with. Right now my wife and I are doing RV for 4 months in the US, 4 months overseas and possibly 4 months cruising. Probably will shift to less cruises and more of the other two because cruises are the most expensive.

@@Every_State_Park Wyndham has points on sale 25% off right now, max 100k. They give you 4th night free on redemptions. We just stayed at Ramadas in Thailand and Malaysia and got suites for 7500 and 6000 pts/night. Used up all our welcome offer points, may load up now and again after the first of the year.

I thoroughly enjoy your vlogs. They are very informative about using points and status for traveling. I find the status, points, and shortcuts for status upgrades very informative. You may enjoy watching the "Travel Asia with Allie" and her vlog "Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali: Luxury IHG Resort Hotel Tour." She and her husband are fans of IHG and the points and status offerings. They have several vlogs of different hotels throughout Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, etc... They give you their honest opinions. Anyways, just want to say please keep making your vlogs.

@@John-qn5tz thank you so much!!! Our plan is to post twice a week. We are big fans of Rob and Allie's channels. We just overlapped them here in Bangkok, but didn't have a chance to meet them.

How often do they offer the 100% bonus points when buying points? Also, what are the maximum number of points you can buy in a year?
@thepodojilsАй бұрын
Usually several times per year. Currently they are doing some baloney with a "surprise" bonus level different for everyone. As in "surprise, you're not getting 100% bonus!" I would definitely expect to see another 100% bonus sale in 2024 and again in early 2025. The usual maximum you can purchase per year is 150,000 but they sometimes increase the limit to 250,000. Also, keep in mind that a partner can also have a rewards account and an IHG credit card to double the fun.

Just wondering how much was all the visas and did you get the quick passes to get thru security?
@thepodojils2 ай бұрын
On our current trip, we technically didn't need any visas because our stays are short enough that a passport stamp is all that is required. However, we opted to get an e-Visa from Thailand for $40 each because we heard some stories about people having problems at the airport if staying more than 30 days. Can't vouch for whether those stories are true or not. We didn't get TSA pre-check because we don't plan on flying much within the USA and we didn't get Global Entry because we really don't plan on going back to the USA much at all.

I am not sure what happened to my comment. It disappeared. I posted that I found multiple apartments for the same price - with washers and kitchens. That seems preferable to me for long stays such as 12 days.

It all comes down to personal preference. If you prefer cooking your meals over eating out or getting delivery, then Air BnB for sure! We are trying to experience as many different types of stay as we can, so that we can sort out what we do and don't like. We are staying at an Air BnB apartment now, and while we like the in suite laundry, we definitely miss free breakfast and daily housekeeping! Plus, whatever would we do with all these hotel points? :) Happy travels!

It is not FREE. It cost something to buy or earn those points.
